Monster Musume Plot:

The premise of Monster Musume is a rather unique one. In the show, it is revealed that the Japanese government, for years, knew about the existence of mythical creatures such as centaurs, harpies, mermaids, lamias and the other fabulous beasts. Having kept the secret for years, the government, three years prior to the events of the show, passed the Interspecies Cultural Exchange Act, thereby making their existence known to human society. Since then, these creatures have been co-existing with humans in society, learning each other’s ways and learning to live harmoniously together. In the years that have elapsed since the Act was passed, these monsters have progressed a lot, joining universities, living in ordinary families, and becoming integrated with human society in general.

In this backdrop, the show follows the adventures and misadventures of Kimihito Kurusu, a boy whose parents live abroad. Despite the cultural exchange between monsters and humans having become legal, Kimihito lived an unremarkable life, and did not volunteer for the exchange program between humans and monsters.

However, Kimihito’s unremarkable life is upended when a mistake on part of interspecies exchange coordinator Agent Smith leads to a lamia called Miia being delivered to Kimihito’s doorstep. When Kimihito opens the door, he sees a very scared and embarrassed Miia, and he does not have the heart to turn her down. So, he allows Miia to live with him, and soon, other gorgeous female monsters come knocking on the door and start living with Kimihito.

There’s plenty of attraction and eroticism among the young (monster) ladies and Kimihito. Despite raging hormones, however, Kimihito cannot engage in sex owing the extremely strict law against interspecies breeding. Thus, Kimihito has to navigate a complex relationship with Miia and his other flatmates, while keeping his desires in check.

Yet, just when Kimihito starts to get used to his new life, a new complication arises – because of an expected change in the law dealing with human-monster relations, Kimihito, as a test case, has to marry one of the girls he is living with. This, in turn, results in other monster girls competing against each other for Kimihito’s affections.
