My 600-lb Life Season 9 Release Date and Future Propects

‘My 600-lb Life’ season 8 has showcased some of the most inspiring weight-loss transformations to date. But there has also been quite a number of unsuccessful journeys as well. Take, for instance, week 16’s episode. In ‘Leneatha’s Story’, fans were expecting the featured reality star to stand up to her claims she had been making on her social media handles. She had vowed to cut down her weight to 175 lbs from 600+ lbs. But the 40-year-old mum decided to quit even before she could make any real progress. And that’s a real shame!

Anyway, leaving aside the events from episode 16, it’s time to think about the future. ‘My 600-lb Life’ had been receiving backlash because of not halting production after the COVID-19 pandemic 2020. So, what does this mean for the upcoming, planned episodes and season 9? Let’s find out.

My 600-lb Life Season 9 Release Date: Future Prospects

Severely obese people are among the risky segments of the population, likely to be affected by the novel COVID-19 virus — as specified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, ‘My 600-lb Life’ continued to be filmed in three states, Texas, Florida, and Mississippi, until the last week of March 2020.

With lockdown orders and stay-at-home laws issued throughout the US, TLC finally confirmed on March 27, 2020, that the channel has stopped shooting future episodes. Their press release said this: “The safety of our show talent, crews and employees is our top priority. Production on My 600-lb Life has stopped and will not resume until the crisis is resolved. It is our sincere wish that our talent, crews, and their families are being safe and staying healthy during this unprecedented time.”

As a result, ‘My 600-lb Life’ Season 8 Episode 17, which was scheduled to air on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, will not premiere as planned. In fact, episode 16 serves as the finale for season 8. TLC had already confirmed this when it released its promo for the 16th episode. Check it out below:

The eighth installment was originally commissioned for 20 episodes. TLC is expected to include the unaired 4 episodes from season 8 in its ninth season, as and when that happens.

‘My 600-lb Life’ season 8 premiered on January 1, 2020, and unexpectedly came to an end on April 15, 2020. TLC has not offered any update on whether the hit reality show will get another season. But we don’t need to wait for one, in fact. The series is one of the most impactful and uplifting titles on the channel. And it’s only a matter of time that TLC releases an official confirmation about a new season.

Since season 2, ‘My 600-lb Life’ has faithfully returned to its annual January release slot. But due to the ongoing health crisis, we there might be a bit of delay until next season hits tv screens. If the ongoing crisis is brought under control in time, ‘My 600-lb Life’ season 9 could very well release sometime in January 2021.
