NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12: Everything We Know

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ is an action drama series that centers on the Naval Criminals Investigative Service division, charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals who pose a threat to the security of the United States. Equipped with the latest high-tech gear, this tight-unit regularly puts their lives on the line for a greater good and heavily relies on each other to do what is necessary to protect national interests. It is the first spin-off of the highly successful and celebrated CBS series ‘NCIS.’

With two episodes left unfinished due to the nation-wide production shutdown, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ brought its eleventh season to an early conclusion. So it’s natural that fans are wondering about the release date and other details of the show. Here’s everything we know about ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 12!

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 Release Date

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 11 premiered on September 29, 2019, on CBS, and concluded its final episode on April 26, 2020.

Barring season 9, all ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ seasons premiered in late September, and season 12 was hot on the trail to follow in its forerunner’s tracks, but alas, the global pandemic derailed its usual course. With the entertainment world slowly and cautiously heading back to production amid the coronavirus pandemic, fans will be delighted to know that ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ has been given the green light to start production earlier this month on their upcoming season under strict health and safety protocols.
Eric Christian Olsen, who plays LAPD Detective Marty Deeks, recently took to his Instagram to share that the team is back in the production saddle.

If everything goes according to the plan, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 12 is expected to hit our screens sometime in late 2020 or early 2021.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 Cast: Who is in it?

Heading into Season 12, we’ll see the central characters carrying forward their stories, including Chris O’Donnell as G. Callen, LL Cool J as Sam Hanna, Linda Hunt as Henrietta ‘Hetty’ Lange, Daniela Ruah as Kensi Blye, Eric Christian Olsen as Liaison Marty Deeks, Barrett Foa as Eric Beale, Renée Felice Smith as Intelligence Analyst Nell Jones, and Medalion Rahimi as Special Agent Fatima Namazi.

Caleb Castille, who appears towards the end of season 11 as FBI Agent Devin Rountree, has parlayed his three-episode stint into a full-time appearance. The actor has been promoted to a series regular ahead of the twelfth edition. We also saw Nell (Renee Felice Smith) hitting the rut in her career in the previous season, so if she returns for season 12, she might not have much screen time.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 Plot: What can it be About?

Season 11 ended with an episode that wasn’t supposed to be the season finale, but it worked out pretty well as it left the story on not one, but a bunch of cliffhangers that have show’s fans excited and nervous about what lies ahead of them. It is safe to say that the new season will launch off the seventh season finale. Nell’s fate in the series has been left hanging in the balance. Going forward, Hetty might soon retire, and what impact that would have on the team might be explored in the latter half of the show. We’ve seen Kensi and Deeks trying to have a baby for a while; therefore, we might hear some good news on that front in season 12.

Another couple has also been making some impressive strides. Callen has committed to try to make his relationship work with Anna. On the other hand, we have Nell and Eric. We have seen Nell put the brakes on their relationship before laying down her papers. If and when she comes back, will she be ready to commit to both Eric and NCIS? Or would just one of the two make the cut? Hopefully, the twelfth installment will answer all these questions. These are a few threads that were left dangling in the aftermath of the untimely eleventh season finale. Season 12 will be tying some of these threads while progressing these characters’ arcs forward.
