Animated movies are all the rage in Hollywood now due to advancement in technology that makes the animation better. This allows films to pack deep messages while retaining stunning visuals. ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ is already based on the wildly popular ‘Angry Birds’ game franchise, and thus there is no doubt that there will be a third movie that will once again take a look at some of our favorite flightless birds.
‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ is a direct sequel to ‘The Angry Birds Movie’ which came out in 2016. We are sure that ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’ will continue the story, and go along the themes of the enmity between the birds and the pigs and how they might move past all that if there are larger external threats on the horizon. That being said, let us not keep you waiting anymore as we tell you all we know about ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’.
The Angry Birds Movie 3 Plot: What we Know so Far?
‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’ will most likely pick up from where ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ leaves the story. Thus, it is best to familiarize yourself with the plot slightly, beforehand. ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ tells the story of the pigs and birds escalating their warfare as pig island is rebuilt. However, all this is put on hold when Zeta, from Eagle Island, plans to capture both islands by forcing the inhabitants to evacuate. The birds and pigs come together to stop Zeta’s evil plan and her war base is destroyed with some good old-fashioned teamwork.
By the end of the movie, several plot lines are put in place, which tells us where ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’ could be headed. First off, we see Red come to terms with the fact that he puts himself before others because he feels the need to be a hero in every situation, believing that acceptance comes from others acknowledging his heroism. However, by the end of the movie, he credits Silver and the rest of the team for saving the day and to his surprise, this makes him even more liked among his peers. Thus, we are likely to see a changed Red in ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’. His personality will not be the only thing affected in the upcoming movie as we also see Red begin a romantic relationship with Silver, which will most likely blossom fully in the new film.
The Mighty Eagle and his family might have a larger role to play in ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’. Notably, ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ spent a lot of time going into the relationship dynamics between the Mighty Eagle, whose actual name is Ethan, his spurned lover Zeta, and their daughter Debbie. The lovers make up after Ethan saves Debbie, and we see Zeta and Ethan get married at the end of ‘The Angry Birds 2’. Thus the upcoming movie will likely see their family play a larger role among the birds.
Lastly, the eggs which play a nice side plot in the movie, have finally hatched and we might be getting some new characters in ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’. Truth be told, we also liked the twist of the python coming to get her own kids back and would not mind if the four also appear in the upcoming film.
The Angry Birds Movie 3 Cast: Who is Going to be in it?
‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’ will definitely have some of the recurring cast members including Jason Sudeikis, who voices Red, Josh Gad, who lends his voice to Chuck, Danny McBride, who voices Bomb, Maya Rudolph, who lends her voice to Matilda, Bill Hader, who voices King Leonard Mudbeard and Peter Dinklage, who lends his voice to Ethan “Mighty” Eagle. In ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’, we are sure to see Silver, Zeta and Debbie as well, thus the cast members who will also be there are Rachel Bloom, Leslie Jones, and Tiffany Haddish. ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ did not shy away from adding some stellar cast members like Awkwafina and Sterling K. Brown, and we would not be surprised to see them reprise their roles, while new cast members lend their voices to different characters that we will have the pleasure of meeting in ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’.
The Angry Birds Movie 3 Crew: Who is behind it?
‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ changed the crew completely from ‘The Angry Birds Movie’. Thus it is not possible to assert with assurance if the crew of ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’ will remain the same. One thing we can be certain of is that Rovio Animation, responsible for the original ‘Angry Birds’, will be attached to the project. Now that Sony Pictures Animation is on board, if ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’ sticks to the same crew, we will see Thurop Van Orman and John Rice helming the movie. However, the director just might change and we have to wait to find out more about the crew of ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’.
The Angry Birds Movie 3 Release Date: When will it come out?
First off, let us clarify that there will definitely be another ‘Angry Birds’ movie. Usually, producers wait for a couple of months before they decide whether to greenlight another part, but ‘The Angry Birds Movie’ already comes from an established franchise, that is the Angry Birds games. Moreover, ‘The Angry Birds Movie’ made over $300 million globally. The Angry Birds Movie 2 is expected to follow suit. With such massive box office potential, it is impossible for makers to not continue the franchise.
As far the exact release date is concerned, ‘The Angry Birds Movie’ came out in 2016, while ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ came out in 2019. This leads us to believe that the earliest possible release date for ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’ will be sometime in 2022. However, there is always a chance that the process is sped up, in which case, we could be getting a new movie sometime in 2021.
