‘Avengers: Endgame‘ is perhaps the most anticipated film of 2019 in terms of popularity and although details of the project have been kept strictly under wraps, we finally have the second official trailer that has got fans all excited. Naturally, we expect that the movie will show the remaining Avengers teaming up to try and take down Thanos, and at the same time reverse the catastrophic effects of his finger snap, that came to be known as the Decimation and wiped out half the universe’s population, in ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘. To jog your memory, among the surviving members of the Avengers are Iron Man and Nebula who seem to be lost in space, and Ant-Man as the first trailer showed us. We also saw Captain America, Black Widow, War Machine, Thor, Hulk, who we mostly saw as Bruce Banner in ‘Infinity War’, Rocket Raccoon, and Hawkeye, who will probably be appearing as Ronin in this movie. Okoye, a member of Black Panther’s elite warrior force will also be part of this avenging team.
The new trailer also shows us that the heroes are coping with the loss of their fallen comrades, but while the first trailer showed us they were completely broken and merely trying to survive, there is a new degree of resolve to our heroes’ actions in the second trailer. As any person who has lost their way must do, our heroes, especially Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America think back to their roots, tracing their journey to where they are now. While Iron Man, who always has a trick up his sleeve, tries to pull off one last surprise, Captain America vows that they will not move on from the loss of their comrades in battle. Ant-Man too seems shaken by the aftermath, as Black Widow lays out their course of action – even if there is a small chance of success, they owe it to everyone to try and reverse Thanos’ action. All the heroes agree on one thing, they will do whatever it takes to make things right.
We are then shown a dizzying sequence of training and action, with battle weary images of Captain America, along with Rocket and War Machine readying their guns. We are also treated to a thrilling sequence of Ant-Man shrinking down amidst some machinery, doing what he does best. However, what stood out most in the trailer is how it touched upon Hawkeye’s loss and what brought him here. Fans might remember that Hawkeye wanted out of the Avengers after ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ which is why we did not see him in ‘Infinity War’. He was being a good husband and father to his wife and children. We are shown how close Hawkeye was to his daughter, who he was teaching archery. In all likelihood, they were taken away from him due to Thanos’ finger snap.
Understandably, our heroes are out for Thanos’ blood, and they are all shown sporting new gear. Perhaps, this will allow them to time travel, or go subatomic, in order to try and reverse Thanos’ actions. However, the look on their faces is clear – even if they cannot defend the earth, they will be sure to avenge it and Thanos has no idea what is coming towards him in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Speaking of big surprises, the trailer shows us Captain Marvel has joined the team too. Those who have seen the ‘Captain Marvel‘ movie will know that the mid-credit scene showed Nick Fury’s pager stop responding and Black Widow turned around to see that Captain Marvel had appeared. With her formally being linked to being a part of the Avengers, the new trailer does not hold back and shows an interaction between Thor, who coolly summons his new weapon, and Captain Marvel. The two seem to be impressed with each other and take a liking. We hope to see some playful banter between two of the Avengers’ strongest members when the movie releases.
‘Avengers: Endgame’ has Kevin Feige as the producer and Anthony and Joe Russo as the directors. The MCU film will hit theaters on April 26, 2019. You can check out the second trailer for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ below.
