One Piece Episode 919 Recap

Emperor Kaido and the Beast Pirates bring Luffy to the infamous Excavation Labor Camp in Udon to break his spirit. This later leads to an unlikely alliance between Straw Hat Pirates captain Monkey D. Luffy and Kid Pirates captain Eustass “Captain” Kid. Both the pirates then engage in a strength competition at the camp where they try to carry huge boulders in exchange for food. Despite being restricted by their handcuffs, the two show immense strength which impresses everyone at the camp. They nearly carry 500 boulders to ships and empty the room where all the prisoners and guards get their food.

Later Dobon discovers that only three Kibi Dangos are left from him in storage and gets really mad. He immediately reaches out to his men asks them to hunt down the people who dared to steal his food. When he is told that Luffy and Kid were intentionally given extra food for the amount of hard work they put in, he just dismisses it and seeks revenge from both. When Luffy and Kid are later released from their cells and taken to Dobon for eating up all of his food, to everyone’s surprise, both of them seem to be ten times bigger than they used to be because of the amount of Kibi Dangos that they had eaten. The two of them then swallow some air, burp and instantly go back to their normal shapes.

Realizing that Dobon wants to punish them, Luffy and Kid decide to teach him a lesson. Even after knowing the consequences of beating him up, the two go ahead and mercilessly attack him. In the final moments of the episode, Dobon gets overpowered by both Luffy and Kid and their bold actions against the higher authority of the camp raise the spirits of all the other prisoners out there. With this, they are labelled “the heroes of the prisoners” but in the next episode, they’ll have to face the consequences of their actions.
