How did Oprah Winfrey earn her wealth and money?
Oprah Gail Winfrey was born on 29th January 1954, in Mississippi, U.S.A. She was born to a single teen mother in a state of poverty. Oprah is a talk show host, actress, producer, media proprietor, and philanthropist. Best known for her talk show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, which was the highest-rated television show in the history of talk shows. Oprah ranks third on the list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women (Forbes, 2017) and is called the Queen of All Media. She is the only African-American to have made it on the list. She also holds the record of being the only African-American of North America to have become a billionaire. Among other things, she is also the best African-American philanthropist in the whole world. According to several valuations, she is the most influential and inspiring woman in the world. Oprah Winfrey once revealed that she was subjected to molestation when she was a child and then during teenage; consequently, at 14, she got pregnant and gave birth to a boy who died in infancy. She used to live in Tennessee where she worked at a radio while completing her high school. She became a co-anchor, at 19, in the local evening news broadcast. She later landed the daytime talk show arena due to her emotional ad-lib manner of delivery. Add to that the money she has yielded from movies such as “Selma” (2014), “The Color Purple” (1985), and “Beloved” (1998), and an amount close to $2 billion, after taxes and investments, is obtained. Oprah also has her own production house which she founded in 1986; she called it Harpo Productions, aka Harpo Studios.
