Paul Rudd was born on 6th April 1969 in Passaic, New Jersey, USA. His family moved to Lenexa, Kansas when he was 19 years-old. He attended Shawnee Mission West High School and majored in theatre at the University of Kansas. Rudd made one of his first appearances on television drama series Sisters, in 1992 where he played the role of Kirby Quimby Philby. He then appeared in episodes of Wild Oats in 1994. The following year he co-starred in coming-of-age romantic comedy Clueless (1995) by Alicia Silverstone.

He started appearing in films like Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (1996), The Locusts (1997), Overnight Delivery (1998), The Object of My Affection ( 1998) and 200 Cigarettes (1999). Among these Romeo and Juliet was a commercial success grossing around $ 147.5 million. In 2000, Rudd played the role of FBI Agent Ian Curtis in the film Gen-Y Cops by Benny Chan. The following year he acted in Wet Hot American Summer (2001). The next year he played the role of Mike Hannigan on television sitcom Friends.

Rudd then appeared in films such as Shape of Things (2003), Two Days (2003) and so on. The following year he worked with Judd Apatow in his film Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004). He also acted in Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie (2004),  the counterpart of the film  Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. The following year he again appeared in Judd Apatow’s film The 40-Year Old Virgin (2005), along with Steve Carell and Seth Rogen. He also worked in Apatow’s Knocked Up in 2007. Later in the year, he appeared in comedy film Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007). He also acted in Nicholas Stoller’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) as the drug-addled surf instructor.

In 2009, he starred in John Hamburg’s film I Love You, Man and gave voice to Derek Dietl in computer-animated science fiction film Monsters vs. Aliens. In 2010, he co-starred alongside Steve Carell in Jay Roach’s film Dinner for Schmucks. The next year he starred in comedy-drama film Our Idiot BrotherIn 2012, Rudd starred and co-produced the film Wanderlust by Apatow. The same year he starred in This Is 40 the spin-off sequel to Knocked Up by Apatow. The following year he reprised his role as Brian Fantana in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, a sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

In 2015, he starred as Scott Lang/ Ant-Man in Marvel comics superhero film Ant-Man (2015). The following year he reprised his role as Scott Lang / Ant-Man in superhero film Captain America: Civil war (2016). Later in the year, he appeared in The Fundamentals of Caring, a comedy-drama film. His other movies of the year were Sausage Party (2016), and Nerdland (2016). Rudd’s film Fun Mom Dinner released in 2017.
