Oscar and Golden Globe nominated actor Ralph Fiennes was born in Ipswich, England. He pursued painting at Chelsea College of Art before he found his true calling in the realm of acting. He received training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, following which he took his first step towards his passion. His career began at Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park and also at the National Theatre. He gained considerable prominence at the Royal Shakespeare Company. His debut film was ‘Wuthering Heights’ (1992), an adaptation of Emily Brontë’s novel of the same name. He bagged the role of Heathcliff, starring opposite Juliette Binoche.
1993 was an important year in Fiennes’ career graph. He played one of the major roles in Peter Greenaway’s film ‘The Baby of Mâcon’ (1993). However, the film triggered controversy and did not receive positive reviews. Later that year, he garnered global critical acclaim for his portrayal of the Nazi camp commandant Amon Göth in Steven Spielberg‘s ‘Schindler’s List’. He received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. His role also earned him a place at the American Film Institute’s list of top 50 film villains.

He played Voldemort in the following Harry Potter films as well – ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’, and notary Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ – Part 1 and Part 2. He has won several awards and accolades for his performance as the almost invincible villain.

In this film, we will see Daniel Craig in the lead role. ‘Bond 25’ is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. The plot revolves around the time when Bond has retired from active service. His friend Felix Leiter asks for his help to find a missing scientist. To rescue the abducted scientist, agent 007 has to undertake a dangerous mission, a kind the world has hardly witnessed ever before. He has to face a mysterious villain armed with the latest technologies. The cast consists of Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright and others in various roles. Ralph Fiennes will play M in the upcoming movie. The film is all set to hit the theatres on 3 April, 2020 in the United Kingdom and on 8 April, 2020 in the United States. The official name for the 25th Bond film has not yet been disclosed.
6. The King’s Man (2020)
Fiennes is set to play the role of T. E. Lawrence in the upcoming film ‘The King’s Man’. It is going to be a prequel to ‘Kingsman’ (2014). The film is based on a comic book series called ‘Kingsman’ created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. When history’s worst tyrants and criminals team up to plot a war that could put millions of lives in danger, one man must step up and rush against time to save the planet. This action spy film is produced by 20th Century Fox and Marv Studios. The movie will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The cast consists of Ralph Fiennes, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Rhys Ifans, Gemma Arterton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Charles Dance, Matthew Goode, Stanley Tucci and others in various characters. The first teaser trailer of the film was released in July 2019. Initially, the film was to be released on 15 November, 2019; but as far as the latest reports, the film will release in the United States on 14 February, 2020.
5. The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle (2020)
‘The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle’ is currently in the post-production stage. The film is based on Hugh Lofting’s “The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle”. This Stephen Gaghan directorial is written by Gaghan and Thomas Shepherd. We will see Robert Downey Jr. play the character of Doctor Dolittle in the film. The storyline will depict what happens when the physician discovers that he can speak to animals. Besides Robert Downey Jr., the film stars Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen and Jim Broadbent in live-action roles. The film also boasts of a star-studded cast when it comes to voiceover. The voice cast consists of Ralph Fiennes, John Cena, Marion Cotillard, Carmen Ejogo, Selena Gomez, Tom Holland, Rami Malek, Kumail Nanjiani, Craig Robinson, Octavia Spencer, Emma Thompson, and Frances de la Tour. Fiennes will lend his voice for Barry, the tiger. The film has a budget of a whopping $175 million. It is all geared up to release on January 17, 2020.
4. Hallelujah! (TBA)
Director Chris Addison’s comedy film ‘Hallelujah!’ is going to feature Ralph Fiennes in the lead role, as composer George Frideric Handel. Written by Jon Croker and Nicholas Adams, the film is set in the turbulent 18th Century London and Dublin. Alcoholic, ill-tempered and disagreeable, Handel is a man who has lost his glory to all but his whip-smart valet. He has lost his will to compose music.
Interestingly, when he overhears famous actress Susannah Cibber’s singing, he discovers a new-found inspiration to compose again. King George II asks him to write an oratorio for the new Irish Viceroy in Dublin. When Handel visits Cibber with the news, he discovers with a jolt that she has a fear of singing in public and that she has been running away from her vengeful husband. The motley crew travels to Dublin. They realize that London’s gin-soaked alleys are no match for the competing, sectarian politics of Dublin’s choirs. They realize the stupidity of English overlords and the hypocritical morals of the day. Confronted with these odds, Handel is left with no choice but to defy his critics and keep going. Hence, he starts to prepare for the premiere of his masterpiece, ‘Messiah’. The film is in the pre-production stage as of now.

3. The Farnsworth House (TBA)
Fiennes will star in the upcoming romance ‘The Farnsworth House’ alongside Maggie Gyllenhaal. The plot is based on the real-life story of building the landmark Farnsworth House in Illinois, which has turned into a pilgrimage for architecture enthusiasts all over the world. The story is one of a creative and emotional turmoil in 1947 between legendary architect Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe and his client Dr. Edith Farnsworth, which resulted in the first glasshouse – the iconic Farnsworth House near Chicago. Mies and Edith, who started as architect and client, went on to become lovers until they finally parted as bitter enemies. The story sheds light on the emotional upheavals that were at work behind the creation of a masterpiece. The film is written and directed by Richard Press. Forthcoming drama ‘The Forgiven’ is based on Lawrence Osborne’s novel of the same name. The director is John Michael McDonagh. The film will reportedly star Ralph Fiennes, Mark Strong, Caleb Landry Jones, and Saïd Taghmaoui in the main roles. The movie’s setting is the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. ‘The Forgiven’ explores the repercussions of a random accident on the lives of both the locals as well as the western visitors to a house party in a grand villa.
