Ramy Season 3: Everything We Know

Ramy Season 3

‘Ramy’ is a comedy-drama series that follows the life of an American-Egyptian millennial, Ramy, who is on a mission to strike a balance between his religious traditions and the progressive world. It has been created and written by comedian Ramy Youssef, along with Ari Katcher, and Ryan Welch. Upon its premiere, the show opened to rave reviews from the critics, and Ramy Youssef earned a Golden Globe Award for his performance in the semi-autobiographical dramedy.

The show garnered universal acclaim for its compelling premise, piquant humor, wide-ranging themes, and crisp writing that often hits too close to home. It was also lauded for giving all the characters an equal weightage and depth than the lead actor. After binge-watching the second season, fans are wondering: Will there be a ‘Ramy’ season 3? Let’s find out!

Ramy Season 3 Release Date and Time

Ramy’ season 2 premiered in its entirety on May 29, 2020, on Hulu. It consists of ten episodes with a runtime of 23–31 minutes each. As far as season 3 is concerned, here’s what we know. Both seasons 1 and 2 of the comedy series have been well-received by critics and the audiences for its comical yet relevant take on themes like religious faith, family traditions, existential crisis, and spirituality. Therefore, the show will most likely manage to reach the ratings and viewership benchmark. Also, the second season finale leaves ample room for the development of potential plot points that can be explored in the third season.

Moreover, in conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the actor-comedian revealed, “We had cast Lindsay and I talked to her and she was down, and then, you know, like Lindsay does, we just kind of stopped hearing from her.” He added that he has not given up and is positive that he can bring the ‘Mean Girls’ star Linday Lohan onboard the third season.

So, although Hulu hasn’t made any renewal/cancellation announcement yet, we are confident that the network will green-light the show for a third season. Whenever that happens, we can expect ‘Ramy’ season 3 to release sometime in 2o21, on Hulu.

Ramy Season 3 Cast: Who is in it?

The series features Golden Globe winner Ramy Youssef as a millennial American Muslim, Ramy Hassan. Mohammed Amer appears as Ramy’s friend Mo. French actor Hiam Abbass essays the character of Maysa Hassan. Mahershala Ali stars as Ramy’s spiritual guide, Sheikh. May Calamawy plays Ramy’s sister Dena Hassan, while Laith Nakli stars as the Trump-supporter, Uncle Naseem.

The cast also comprises Stephen Way as Stevie, Dave Merheje as Ahmed, Amr Waked as Farouk Hassan, Rosaline Elbay as Amani, Shadi Alfons as Shadi, and Kate Miller as Vivian. Almost all the main cast members might reprise their role in season 2. Model and media personality Mia Khalifa might not return in the third season. The possibility of Mahershala Ali reprising his role in the third season appears slim. Season 3 might also feature Lindsay Lohan if Ramy manages to convince her.

Ramy Season 3 Plot: What can it be About?

In season 2, the flawed Muslim-American millennial continues to explore the path of spiritual enlightenment and stumbles upon a calm and composed yet witty Sufi leader, Sheikh Ali, who agrees to mentor our disorganized Ramy who can’t prevent himself from falling in chaotic situations. After marrying Sheikh Ali’s daughter, Zainab, Ramy confesses to her about his romantic rendezvous with his cousin Amani, the night before. He also shares his desire to have multiple wives.

Enraged by his actions, Zainab leaves him. Sheikh expresses his disappointment in Ramy and tells him that he can’t help someone who doesn’t want to change. To make things worse, Amani dumps him too, stating he doesn’t love her but only comes to her when he is too scared to face reality. In the end, Ramy sits in his friend Dennis’ Land Cruiser and contemplates how he has practically ruined his life.

Season 3 might pick up from the ending of the second season. In the season, we can expect Ramy to take charge of his life and make amends to all the people he has hurt. Since Zainab and Amani have left him for his immature and brash decisions, Ramy will have to face the consequences of his actions alone. He might strive to become a responsible human and find a balance in his complicated life. It will be interesting to see how Ramy’s family members react to his broken marriage and incest relationship with Amani.
