How did Ronda Rousey earn her money and wealth?
Ronda Rousey, real name Ronda Jean Rousey, was born on 1 February 1987 in California, the US to AnnMaria De Mars, the first US citizen to win World Judo Championship and Ron Rousey, a soldier. Her father committed suicide when Ronda was 8. The tragic incident had a huge impact on her. She could not concentrate on her studies and so AnnMaria made Ronda learn judo believing that this would help her frustrations. AnnMaria was Ronda’s first coach and made the training sessions really hard for Ronda.
Ronda Rousey is not only an American professional wrestler but is also an actress, author, judoka but also a mixed martial artist. She joined the US Olympic team when she was 15 and took a drop from school when she was 16. Later on, she earned a GED. The same year, Ronda won a gold medal at the World Junior Judo Championships held in Hungary and at Pan American Judo Championships as well. It was in 2007 that her performance as a judoka reached new heights. She ranked among top three women across the globe in the 70kg category and also won a gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games.
In the year 2008, Ronda participated in Olympic Games held in China where she lost the quarterfinal to Edith Bosch but did win a bronze medal after qualifying another match via repechage bracket. She took a break after the 2008 Olympics and retired as a judoka. Later in August 2010, Ronda made an amateur debut in mixed martial arts and defeated Hayden Munoz. She won many amateur matches in the following months and had a 3-0 record in MMA competition. She started her career as a professional mixed martial artist in the year 2011 at the ‘King of the Cage: Turning Point’ and defeated Ediane Gomes.
Ronda challenged Miesha Tate, who was the Bantamweight Champion of Strikeforce Women at the time, for her title. The fight between the two took place in March 2012 in Ohio. Ronda defeated Miesha and amassed her title, becoming the new Bantamweight Champion of Strikeforce Women. She was challenged by Alexis Davis for her title in the co-event at UFC 175 in the year 2014 which she again went on to win.
Ronda Rousey has also featured in certain television and movies in the 2010s, making appearances in ‘The Expendables 3’ in 2014, ‘Furious 7’ in 2015 and ‘Entourage’ in 2015.
