Will There be a SeaChange Season 2?

‘SeaChange’ is the 2019 reboot of the Australian drama that aired on ABC from 1998 to 2000 for three seasons. The revived version was then released in Australia on the Nine Network. A story about flawed people and unconventional relationships, the new series takes place two decades after the events of the finale of the original’s third outing. Just like its predecessor, the reboot’s inaugural installment also opened to a warm response.

SeaChange Season 2 Release Date

‘SeaChange’ season 1 premiered on August 6, 2019, on the Nine Network. It wrapped up with its eighth episode on September 24, 2019. ‘SeaChange’ season 1 released on June 1, 2020, on Acorn in the US.

The reboot of the fan-favorite Australian drama takes us back to the 1990s and definitely strikes at our nostalgic chords. According to Channel Nine’s Co-Head of Drama, Andy Ryan, its first season became the highest-rated show in 2019 in Australia. Producer Deborah Cox said she is hopeful ‘Seachange’ may be renewed for another season. Although Nine has not offered any official update yet, we are hopeful that the series will get a go-ahead for one more season at least. If that happens, we can expect ‘SeaChange’ season 2 to release sometime in 2021.

SeaChange Season 2 Cast: Who Can be in it?

The reboot sees the return of original cast members Sigrid Thornton as Laura Gibson, Kerry Armstrong as Heather Jelly, and John Howard as Bob Jelly. Joining them in the revived version is Brooke Satchwell as Miranda Gibson, Kevin Harrington as Kevin Findlay, Dan Wyllie as Ben Russo, Darren McMullen as Findlay Knox, Katrina Milosevic as Sergeant Anna Kazan, Kate Lister as Lillian Liano, Alex Tarrant as Zac Bell, Wayne Blair as Riley Bolt, and Kamil Ellis as Stone Bolt. If renewed for a second edition, we can expect the entire lead cast to make their respective returns.

SeaChange Season 2 Plot: What Can it be About?

‘SeaChange’ follows Laura Gibson, a successful city lawyer, who faces a huge crisis when her husband is arrested for fraud. She then takes up the responsibilities of the magistrate for the fictional small coastal town of Pearl Bay. Laura, and her kids, Rupert and Miranda, face some difficulties in adjusting to the new life but later, they start enjoying their peaceful, isolated locale.

The events of the reboot take place 20 years after the final season of the predecessor. Laura faces the aftermath of her broken marriage and ruined career. She starts questioning her place in the world. She returns to the paradise of Pearl Bay and meets her estranged daughter Miranda who is now a mum to a baby. Laura also learns that the town is threatened by dodgy land deals. While figuring out a way to bring back the peace to Pearl Bay, she rediscovers her bond with her family. Season 2, as and when it happens, is expected to take up the story from here and chronicle Laura’s struggles as she balances work with familial duties while helping the simple townsfolk in the neighborhood.
