Stumptown Cast: Who is in it?

She has additionally appeared on ‘The Avengers‘ and multiple other movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Stumptown Plot: What is it About?

‘Stumptown’ is based on an eponymous series of graphic novels, created by Greg Rucka and Matthew Southworth, and is centered around the protagonist, Dex Parios, a strong-headed, confident, and sharp-witted army veteran. She has a complex love life, a huge gambling debt, and a disabled brother Ore. She settles in Portland to take care of her sibling and uses her brilliant military intelligence skills to land the job of a private investigator in the city. However, her straightforward approach and unapologetic style often land her in trouble. Dex not only becomes the target of hardcore criminals but also does not get the support of her colleagues.

‘Stumptown’ is an action-packed P.I. procedural drama and an impressive one in this genre. It ticks in all the right places. The procedural elements are compelling and have a smooth flow, the characters are seamlessly executed, and the lead protagonist is exceptional. The series opens by introducing us to Dex, a woman steeped in financial trouble, who takes up random odd-ball P.I. jobs in order to settle her huge debts. Dex brings in a bad girl charm, which combined with the dynamics of those around her, definitely keep viewers glued to the screen.

Dex is an amateur in her job and is still struggling with her past memories and burgeoning gambling addiction. But one day, the owner of the casino she visits gives her the option of taking up a job that would solve her debt problems. Thus, she gets involved in a mystery that involves a missing girl, car robberies, and classic twists and turns. Entwined with off-beat humor, sharp emotions, and engrossing action sequences, ‘Stumpddown’ is a must-watch for series addicts and novel fans alike.

Smulders does full justice to her portrayal of Dex and she is at the center of the limelight. She enacts her role perfectly. There are moments of gritty action sequences which she beautifully executes and also multiple, humorous moments that leave fans in awe. Of course, combined with the emotionally gritty story arcs in the midst, it is a show that reveals Smulders’ long-concealed star power. A fantastic adaptation of the original source material, i.e. the comic books, ‘Stumptown’ does manage to do away with the blatantly noir-ish style of Matthew Southworth and Lee Loughridge’s artwork. Additionally, director James Griffiths does brilliant work by bringing alive a script that’s raw, emotional, and has the potential to strike a chord with viewers.
