For those who watch television, ‘Supernatural’ is a show that needs no introduction. A dark fantasy show created by initially created by Eric Kripke, ‘Supernatural’ follows brother Sam and Dean Winchester as they battle all things evil. Although the show initially aired on The WB network, it changed hands when The WB merged with UPN in 2006 to create The CW Television Network. As it stands, ‘Supernatural’ airs on The CW.
Over the 15 years of its existence, ‘Supernatural’ has managed to create a fanbase that this rivalled by very few television series. It has spawned fandoms, novels, spin-off series, merchandise, and more. Unsurprisingly, the show enjoys tremendous popularity among viewers, and it has a brilliant overall rating of 8.5/10 on IMDb. Critics, too, have largely praised the show, which enjoys a solid overall score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Season 1 of ‘Supernatural’ first made its way to viewers’ screens on September 13, 2005, and since then, the show has seen a whopping 14 seasons air, and is currently the longest-running live-action fantasy series in the history of American television. The show enjoys critical acclaim and tremendous popularity among viewers, and the good news for fans of the show is that ‘Supernatural’ will be returning again with its fifteenth season. However, all good things have to come to an end, and fans will be disheartened to know that ‘Supernatural’ Season 15 will be the last we see of Sam and Dean Winchester.
Supernatural Season 15 Episode 9 Release Date
‘Supernatural’ season 15 premiered on October 10, 2019. After airing for 8 episodes, the show went on a mid-season break — as it always does — on December 12, 2019. The good news is that fans won’t have to wait for long for the show to come back on the tv screens. ‘Supernatural’ season 15 episode 9 will release on January 16, 2020. As far as the future of the show goes, fans should know that fifteenth season is the last of the show. On March 22, 2019, show’s leading star Jensen Ackles announced cancellation via a video posted on Instagram.
“We have some big news that we wanted y’all to hear from us. We just told the crew that though we’re very, very excited about moving into our 15th season, it will be our last…We wanted you to hear from us that though we’re excited about net year, it will be the finale, the big grand finale of an institution,” Ackles said, adding, “We’ve cried some tears and we’ll cry some more, but we’re grateful and we’re going to work all that emotion into next season.”
Supernatural Cast: Who is in it?
Over the years, ‘Supernatural’s the show’s cast has seen many changes over the years.
However, the two people who have remained constant over the years are Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who play the roles of brothers Sam and Dean Winchester. Another cast member who has remained with the show since 2008 is Misha Collins, who plays the role of Castiel, and angel of the Lord.
Other cast members who have played roles in recent seasons include Samantha Smith as Mary Winchester, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as John Winchester, Mark Pellegrino as Lucifer, Ruth Connell as Rowena MacLeod, and Alexander Calvert as Jack.
As far as season 15 is concerned, The CW has not made any announcements pertaining to any changes in the cast, which means all the main cast members including Padalecki and Ackles are expected to return for the new season.
Supernatural Plot: What is it about?
Over the years, Sam and Dean Winchester have seen more adventures than can be detailed, but the premise of the show is a rather simple one, and has remained unchanged since the show began.
‘Supernatural’ revolves around Sam and Dean, who were raised by their father John to be hunters of all evil supernatural entities. Sam and Dean’s origin story is a rather tragic one, with the brothers having lost their mother to a demon during their childhood. The show follows the brothers two decades after their mother’s murder, when they decide to use their demon hunting skills to track down their recently missing father.
Fighting evil all along the way and saving as many people as they can, Sam and Dean finally track down their father, only to find out that he has found a lead on the demon who killed Mary, and has found a way to track and kill it. While the brothers get determined to avenge their mother’s death, their quest for revenge gets complicated when Dean starts developing frightening powers that allow him to foresee the deaths of others. These visions, Dean realizes is somehow related to their mother’s murderer, who also seems to have mysterious plans surrounding Sam. After their father passes away, Sam and Dean are left to continue the quest and fight evil on their own, although they get help every now and then from other hunters too.
As Sam and Dean travel cross country in their signature 1967 Chevrolet Impala, they battle all sorts of evil including demons, corrupt angels, vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters, demigods, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and even Lucifer himself. In these adventures, Sam and Dean sometimes lose people that they love. However, they also make new friends who they learn to call family. Through all these adventures, one thing remains constant – Sam and Dean are willing to go through hell to save those that they love.
