How did T-pain earn his money and wealth?
Tallahassee Pain, abbreviated as T-Pain is the stage name of singer, rapper, record producer and a songwriter, Faheem Rashad Najm. He was born in Tallahassee- Florida to a Muslim couple in September 1985. T-pain was inspired by his father who was a rapper. It is said that by the age of 10, T-pain had transformed his room to a small studio.
Beginning his musical journey with a rap group Nappy Headz, his first major success happened in 2005. His talent was recognized in 2004 by a Senegalese singer Akon whose song titled’ Locked Up’ released. In response to the same, T-pain recorded a song titled,’ Fu***d Up’. This song became popular beyond the realms of his state and was heard by Akon. Immediately impressed with this, Akon signed T-pain for his Konvict Music Imprint. This was the onset of a new journey for T-pain who was now a solo singer.
His recognition became significant in 2005, after his first solo hit called “I’m Sprung’. In this, T-pain used a piece of contemporary music using a vocoder and the album hit top ten on the Billboard chart. To gain further recognition, his professionally acclaimed debut hit known as ‘Rappa Ternt Sanga’ released in 2005 hit the billboard 200 chart. It was number one on the chart with its most popular song I’M in Luv (with a Stripper). This song had a rugged feel to it with a different sound again using a vocoder.
His other famous hit singles include “Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin)”, “Bartender”, “Can’t Believe it”, “5’O’ clock” and many more. Epiphany, yet another hit in 2007 made him gain popularity among the crowd. For all his songs he used the Auto-Tune correction effect, for which he became popular later on as this technique helped him create different and unique sounds. His major hit was known as Flo- Rida which was his debut single. The Recording Industry Association of America termed it as 6X platinum.
Besides the albums and singles, T-pain is also the founder of record label imprint called Nappy Boy Entertainment.
