Tehran is Apple TV+’s Israeli espionage thriller drama, helmed by Moshe Zonder as the creator. Written by Zonder and Omri Shenhar and directed by Daniel Syrkin, its central theme is the conflict between Iran and Israel. The story follows a Mossad agent with Iranian roots who enters Tehran with a sensitive and dangerous mission. This gives rise to a chain of events that threatens to put everyone’s life in jeopardy.
Season 1 of ‘Tehran’ opened to positive reviews, with critics praising the show for its slickly plotted twists, that result in a geopolitical thriller — which maintains a deft balance between emotions and one’s sense of duty. Now that the first iteration has wrapped up, here is everything we have uncovered about ‘Tehran’s second edition.
Tehran Season 2 Release Date:
‘Tehran’ season 1 premiered on September 25, 2020, on Apple TV+. It wrapped up with its eighth episode on October 30, 2020. The show, throughout its first-season run, has managed to garner a loyal fanbase. On the other hand, the season 1 finale ends on a massive cliffhanger — paving the way for a second outing.
Therefore, although the creators have not renewed the series yet, we hope to hear news about the new edition soon. Both in terms of content and response, ‘Tehran’ holds a massive scope of spawning a new installment. If given a go-ahead soon enough, we can expect ‘Tehran’ season 2 to premiere sometime in 2022.
Tehran Season 2 Cast: Who Can be in it?
Starring as the protagonist is Niv Sultan as Tamar Rabinyan. Tamar was born in Iran but grew up in Israel and currently, works for the Mossad. Sultan will make a comeback in season 2. The rest of the cast includes Shaun Toub as Faraz Kamali, Menashe Noy as Meir Gorev, Shervin Alenabi as Milad, Liraz Charhi as Yael Kadosh, Reza Diako as Shahin, Dan Mor as Eran, and Arash Marandi as Ali, among others. Apart from Charhi, whose character dies in the season 1 finale, the rest of the cast is expected to return for season 2.
Tehran Season 2 Plot: What Can it be About?
‘Tehran’ follows Mossad agent Tamar Rabinyan as she is sent on a dangerous undercover mission to Tehran. She needs to neutralize Iran’s air defenses so that when Israeli warplanes attack the nuclear plant, the Iranian forces will be powerless. Iran then cannot obtain an atomic bomb. However, Tamar’s task is packed with glitches from the start itself. She goes on the run and forges a bond with Milad. And at the end of season 1, it is revealed that one of the Mossad agents, Yael, has been acting as a mole all this while. Tamar tries to alert HQ but it is too late and Iran shoots down Israeli warplanes.
Season 2 is expected to answer several questions. Is Faraz Kamali dead? He is left profusely bleeding on the ground in the end. And what about his wife Nihad, who is still under the clutches of the Mossad agents? Finally, what does the future hold for Milad and Tamar? Where did they go on the bike? We hope the new season answers all of these unresolved questions.
