‘The Chi’ is the product of Emmy-winning Lena Waithe that revolves around a community in Chicago, its inhabitants, and the strong bond between them. The character-driven show is one of the frontrunners on Showtime, thanks to its captivating stars and sensitive storytelling, which plays with your emotions. Although the series has seen a major shuffle in its cast ( NOTE: the firing of actor Jason Mitchell on account of sexual misconduct allegations), the tale goes on. Why you might ask. This is mainly because the main character in the drama is Chicago itself, where the whole plot unfolds. Hence, ‘The Chi’ has the potential to go on forever. Three seasons in and counting, here is everything you need to know about its fourth installment.
The Chi Season 4 Release Date:
‘The Chi’ Season 3 released on June 21, 2020, on Showtime, and ended with its 1oth episode on August 23, 2020. The channel is yet to announce a renewal. So, we have our fingers crossed. However, a glance at the numbers, and we could not help but get our hopes up, a bit. Season 3 averaged around a 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demo, gathering around 0.4 million viewers per episode. This means that the viewership is up by around 1 percent when compared to that of season 2. Since the second season was one of Showtime’s highest-rated series and the figures have increased in season 3, the scope of a new season is high.
Now, news of season 3’s renewal came while season 2 was still on-air. So, this has made fans skeptical — since there’s no update on season 4 yet (even after season 3’s finale). If the filming commences in late 2020, we can expect ‘The Chi’ Season 4 to release sometime in Summer 2021.
The Chi Season 4 Cast: Who Can be in it?
Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine stars as Ronnie Davis, a man on his journey to redemption. After being involved in a series of horrible crimes, Ronnie atones for his sins by saving Kiesha. But he is eventually killed in the pre-finale. Therefore, sadly, Mwine making an appearance in season 4 seems unlikely. Jacob Latimore stars as Emmett Washington, Jada’s (played by Yolonda Ross) son. Alex Hibbert essays the character of Kevin Williams while Michael Epps plays Jake Taylor. Shamon Brown enacts the character of Stanley “Papa” Jackson and Birgundi Baker plays Kiesha Williams. In season 4, all of the above actors are expected to make a comeback.
Joining the aforementioned stars in additional recurring roles are Sonja Sohn as Laverne Johnson (Brandon’s mother), Cedric Young as Sonny, LaDonna Tittle as Ethel Davis, Tyla Abercrumbie as Nina Williams, Hannaha Hall as Tiffany, Chris Lee as Hannibal, Tai Davis as Tracy Roxboro, Common as Rafiq, Curtiss Cook as Douda, Miriam A. Hyman as Dre, Jasmine Davis as Imani, La La Anthony as Dom, Judae’a Brown as Jemma, Kandi Burruss as Roselyn Perry, Lena Waithe as Camille Hallaway, and Lil Rel Howery as Zeke Remnick. Since the supporting characters are equally pivotal for the story to continue, most of the recurring stars should return for season 4 as well.
