‘The Danish Girl’ Trailer Confirms That Eddie Redmayne May Win His 2nd Back-to-Back Oscar

Even though, I am not a big fan of Tom Hooper, from the time the first image of Eddie Redmayne as Lili Elbe came out, I was deeply intrigued by the prospect of ‘The Danish Girl’ being something really special. The trailer, released today, does confirm that Hooper is utilizing his acute sense of history and personality again — as he did in ‘The King’s Speech’. And it also confirms another important fact that Eddie Redmayne is a very serious contender of repeating the feat that Tom Hanks achieved 20 years back i.e. consecutive Best Actor Oscar wins. By the way, as I have been predicting, both him and Alicia Vikander are looking set to at least get nominated.

‘The Danish Girl’ will soon be seen by major critics at Telluride Film Festival, and I won’t be surprised if this comes out of the gate as the leading Oscar Best Picture contender. We will keep you posted with the latest from Telluride and Toronto Film Festival. Meanwhile, here’s the trailer and the short synopsis of the film.

The remarkable love story inspired by the lives of artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener. Lili and Gerda’s marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili’s groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.
