When The Good Fight first released, it was met with widespread critical acclaim for not just managing to retain the magic of its predecessor but also for widening its narrative scope that serves as a compelling defense of liberal values. Over four seasons, the show has amassed a loyal fan-base and has also been nominated for several accolades. Season 4 concluded recently, and fans are naturally wondering: Will there be a ‘The Good Fight’ season 5? Let’s find out!
The Good Fight Season 5 Release Date
‘The Good Wife’ season 3 premiered on April 9, 2020, on CBS All Access and wrapped up on May 28, 2020, after airing for seven episodes. In case you’re not aware, the season was initially planned to have ten episodes. Unfortunately, the production was halted due to COVID-19 concerns, and the makers could only manage to shoot seven episodes. Therefore, the seventh episode works as the makeshift season finale.
The good news for the fans is that the network announced the show’s renewed on May 14, 2020. Julie McNamara, EVP and Head of Programming at CBS All Access, told Deadline, “We can’t wait for viewers to see the remainder of the season and are excited to bring subscribers even more of the timely, gripping story-lines the Kings bring to life next in season five.” But when will it release? Well, our best guess is that ‘The Good Fight’ Season 5 might release sometime in 2021, on CBS All Access.
The Good Fight Season 5 Cast: Who is in it?
Christine Baranski headlines the cast as Diane Lockhart, while Cush Jumbo appears as Lucca Quinn. The series is supported by an ensemble cast that comprises Audra McDonald as Liz Reddick, Delroy Lindo as Adrian Boseman, Sarah Steele as Marissa Gold, and Nyambi Nyambi as Jay DiPersia.
It also includes Michael Boatman as Julius Cain, Audra McDonald as Liz Lawrence, Zach Grenier as David Lee, and John Larroquette as Gavin Firth, among others. Almost all the primary cast members might reprise their roles in the fifth season. Season 5 can also feature some new additions to the cast.
The Good Fight Season 5 Plot: What can it be About?
The fifth season transports Diane to an alternate reality, where Hillary Clinton is the president and not Donald Trump. Her excitement subsides as soon as she discovers that sexual predators like Harvey Weinstein are still enjoying their power and fame, and the #MeToo movement is non-existent. The dream reality lays the base for the whole season, which revolves around a mysterious Memo 618 that offers the bigwigs a free pass from staying behind bars.
In the finale, Liz, Adrian, and Diane investigate the suicide of Jeffrey Epstein. They delve deeper into the evidence and facts surrounding the case to determine whether he actually took his life or if there is more to his death. On the other hand, Diane is hellbent on figuring out the truth behind Memo 618, which has a connection to Epstein’s death.
Season 5 will pick up from the cliffhanger ending of the fourth season. Diane might move heaven and earth to find out how Memo 618 is linked to the people in a dominant position, and how does it work. Meanwhile, Liz might continue her expeditions by solving absurd cases. We can expect the season to add more odd but relevant cases into the mix.
