Will There be a The Lion Guard Season 4?

‘The Lion Guard’ is an American animated television series developed by Ford Riley. It is based on the famous film from 1994, called ‘The Lion King’. The series commenced with the direct-to-television film, ‘The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar’ which was broadcast on the Disney Channel on November 22, 2015. The film serves as the sequel to ‘The Lion King’ and a prequel to the ‘The Lion Guard’. It is the second such series that derives from ‘The Lion King’ after ‘Timon and Pumbaa’ aired from 1995 to 1999. The show is about five heroes of the jungle who are protectors of the Pride Lands. The heroes are Kion, Bunga, Fuli and Beshte and Ono.

The show has had three successful seasons so far. But will there be a ‘The Lion Guard’ season 4? Before we answer that question, let’s look into the details of the show.

The Lion Guard Cast: Who is in it?

Max Charles lends voice to Kion. The protagonist and leader of the pack, Kion, a lion cub, is Simba and Nala’s son. He is Kiara’s younger brother. Kion’s battle cry for the Lion Guard is “Till the Pride Lands end, Lion Guard defend!” Max Charles had starred as the young Peter Parker in the film, ‘The Amazing Spiderman’. Diamon White voices Fuli, Kion’s friend, who’s a king cheetah and is also a member of the Lion Guard. Dusan Brown gives voice for Beshte, who is a hippopotamus and is also a member of the Lion Guard. Ono is voiced by Atticus Shaffer. Ono is a cattle egret, friend, and member of the Lion Guard. Lastly, Bunga, who is Kion’s honey badger friend, is voiced by Joshua Rush.

Characters from ‘The Lion King’ universe also return to the world of ‘The Lion Guard’. Among them, some of the important characters are Simba, Nala, Kiara, Timon, and Pumbaa. Rob Lowe voices Simba. Gabrielle Union voices Nala. Kiara is voiced by Eden Riegel. Timon finds his voice in Kevin Schon, while Pumbaa is voiced by Ernie Sabella.

The Lion Guard Plot: What is it about?

Kion, the second-born son of Simba and Nala, is born with the heavy and proud responsibility that comes from being the leader of the Lion Guard. The survival of the Pride Lands depends upon the members of the Lion Guard. Kion is the first lion cub to break the rule of the Lion Guard by gathering a force consisting not only of lions but a group of four animals, namely Fuli the cheetah, Beshte, the hippopotamus, Ono, the egret and Bunga, the honey badger. They are aided by the guiding spirit of Mufasa, Kion’s grandmother.

Kion’s evil great-uncle Scar returns in Season 2 with the sole intention of reclaiming the Pride Lands. He once was the protector but had misused his powers and was condemned after a fierce fight with Simba. Scar is now assembling his force by offering advice to the enemies of the Lion Guard and is bringing together animals from the Outlands. Scar reveals himself in front of all Pridelanders and threatens Simba by claiming that he will take back the Pridelands in no time. But eventually, the Lion Guard with the help of Simba and all the animals that Kion gathered, can send him back to the Outlands.

The appearance of Scar makes the Pridelanders extremely worried but King Simba tells them that Kion knew about it but kept it a secret because it was he who had instructed Kion to do so. Being a king, he did not want his subjects to be worried. The Pridelanders are assured after Kion shows them that Markini’s little baobab sapling had survived the attack of Scar. Kion delivers the message that they can survive the hard times only if they stand together.

Season 2 ended with the Lion Guard successfully claiming a victory over Scar’s army by driving out his vultures with the help of Anga, the Martial Eagle, Ono, and Hadithi. A new member of the Lion Guard is found in Anga who says, “I could get used to it.”

Season 3, on the other hand, ends with the Lion Guard returning home only to find it has been replaced by a new Lion Guard and the two compete to see who will protect the Pridelands.
