The Mandalorian Season 3: Everything We Know

Created by Jon Favreau, ‘The Mandalorian’ first released on November 12, 2019. Set in the ‘Star Wars’ universe, the action show picks up five years after the events of the 1983 film ‘Return of the Jedi.’ The space series follows a Mandalorian bounty hunter called Din Djarin on his intergalactic adventures. He is hired by the Imperial forces to retrieve Baby Yoda (now known as Grogu) but ends up becoming his protector since evil Moff Gideon is pursuing the infant.

This Western drama garnered a lot of appreciation for its well-crafted narrative and action sequences. The involvement of popular characters has helped strengthen the fan base further. The show has won several awards, including the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Art Directors Guild Awards, American Film Institute Awards, and Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. There is no doubt that the fans are eager to know what lies ahead for the characters. But the question is, will there be a season 3? Here is all that you want to know!

The Mandalorian Season 3 Release Date

‘The Mandalorian’ season 2 premiered on October 30, 2020, on Disney+, with the season wrapping up on December 18, 2020, after screening eight episodes. Each episode runs for 32–54 minutes.

We’ve got some exciting news regarding the show’s third installment. As of late April 2020, sources claimed that Favreau had been writing the third season of the action-adventure drama. According to the report, the upcoming season was already in its pre-production stage since the team required “a huge lead time.” However, in July 2021, it was confirmed that the upcoming edition had begun filming. But still, an exact premiere date has not yet been announced.

The second cycle arrived roughly a year after the freshman edition. Therefore, the upcoming installment will require at least 9-10 months for filming and post-production. Taking into consideration that filming began in Summer 2021, we can only expect ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3 to release sometime in Q1 2022.

In September 2020, Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) told People, “We’re living in a universe that is huge, and there’s so much to explore. So I think this show is going to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that’s gonna come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers.” So, it looks like season 4 is on the cards too! Additionally, several spin-off series such as ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ and ‘Ahsoka’ will expand the ‘Star Wars’ universe even further.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Cast: Who can be in it?

We can confirm that Pedro Pascal will return as the titular bounty hunter, Din Djarin. Among others who might reprise their roles are Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano), Mercedes Varnado (Koska Reeves), and Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan).

We would not be surprised to see Mark Hamill appear as Luke Skywalker once again. Amy Sedaris (Peli Motto), Bill Burr (Mayfeld), Horatio Sanz (Mythrol), and Emily Swallow (The Armorer) might also return in the upcoming cycle.

Unfortunately, Gina Carano, who portrays Cara Dune, will not be a part of season 3 since she was asked to leave the project in light of controversial statements she made on social media. It is unclear whether or not the role will be recast, but there is a high possibility that it might. On a different note, Mena Massoud’s Instagram post sparked off speculations that he might be joining the cast as Ezra Bridger, although nothing has been said officially. Other names that have been associated with this character are Taylor Gray and Rahul Kohli.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Plot: What can it be About?

At the end of season 2, Din Djarin saves Grogu from Moff Gideon, and Luke Skywalker lends a helping hand. Later, Din Djarin encourages Grogu to join the Jedi for his training and even takes off his helmet to say goodbye. We learn that the bounty hunter has gained possession of the Darksaber.

In the third season, we will know what the future holds for Din Djarin and Grogu. The bounty hunter could continue his current way of life or settle on Nevarro. It would also be interesting to see if he joins the fight for the liberation of Mandalore. We know that Bo-Katan wants the Darksaber, which is now with Din Djarin. So, we might not have seen the last of her.
