The New Pope Episode 7 Recap:
Much to the viewers’ delight, the Young Pope finally wakes up in the seventh episode of ‘The New Pope.’ The episode begins with Pope Pius XIII, in a white Speedo, rising out of the sea in a beach in a manner that can only be described as godly. Then, the scene from the series’ teaser plays out. The scene is too epic to be described in words. We shall let the actual scene do the talking:
Pope Pius XIII’s doctor invites him to stay at his house since he is the only one, apart from the nurse who knows that he (pope Pius XIII) is awake. The doctor’s house is in Venice where the young Pope meets his wife and their sick, almost-dying son, Eric. The couple hopes Pius can resurrect their son due to the miracles he has performed in the past. However, Pope Pius XIII does not think so.
In an almost irrational segment, Esther convinces some of Pope Pius XIII’s staunch followers that the pope is dead. This leads to the group taking off their clothes and walking into the ocean purposely. On the other hand, Pope Pius XIII decides to try and cure Eric after all and asks the doctor and his wife to spend the night out of their house.
After two prayers, Eric manages to raise his hand but dies. This is still a miracle since it is an act of mercy for the suffering boy. When the doctor and his wife return, Pope Pius XIII manages to show them the spirit of their son.
In the Vatican, terrorists manage to bomb St. Peter’s Basilica. Instead of issuing any public statement, Pope John Paul III is grieving for his dog who died due to the attack. Then, Pope John Paul III confesses to Cardinal Gutierrez about him stealing his brother’s philosophy. The young Pope is on his way to reclaim the papal reigns from the thief masquerading as the new Pope.
