The Real Housewives of New York City Season 13: Everything We Know

The Real Housewives of New York City Season 13

‘The Real Housewives of New York City,’ AKA ‘RHONY,’ is a reality television series that follows the lives of a few socialites belonging to the haut monde, as they strive to strike curb the chaos in their familial, romantic, and professional relationships. The spin-off of ‘The Real Housewives’ first premiered on March 4, 2008. Despite being consistently thrashed by the critics for the lack of diversity and creation of forced brawls, the show has garnered a solid fanbase over the years, especially because of the addictive interpersonal drama courtesy of the eccentric personality of the cast members. Season 12 concluded recently and naturally, fans must be awaiting an update on the release date and cast details of ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ season 13. If you are one among them, you’re in the right place!

The Real Housewives of New York City Season 13 Release Date

‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ season 12 premiered on April 2, 2020, on Bravo TV and wrapped up its run on September 3, 2020, after airing 21 episodes (excluding the three-part reunion) with a runtime of 40-45 minutes each.

As far as another season is concerned, the network is yet to officially announce the cancellation or renewal of the reality juggernaut but here’s what we know. The ratings of season 12 saw a significant drop mid-season but before you don your mourning hats, let us tell you that the high-voltage theatrics of the housewives was enough to cause a spike in the numbers.

Coupling that with the show’s ever-increasing popularity, we don’t think Bravo is keen on dismantling the drama mill, anytime soon. So, there is a high chance that the network might renew the show for a thirteenth season. If and when that happens, we can expect ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ season 13 to release sometime in Summer 2021, on Bravo.

The Real Housewives of New York City Season 13 Cast: Who is in it?

After receiving flak for years, it looks like the Bravo show might finally acknowledge its racially homogeneous cast and include some diversity in the thirteenth season. Along with loading up some new cast members, it will say goodbye to some of the popular cast members like Tinsley Mortimer and Dorinda Medley. Since Mortimer has relocated to Chicago to be with the love of her life, Scott Kluth, she announced her departure from the show on June 11, 2020.

On August 25, 2020, Dorinda Medley, who has been a regular cast member since the seventh season, announced her exit via an Instagram post that read, “What a journey this has been. I have laughed and cried and tried to Make it Nice… but all things must come to an end.” Leah McSweeney is likely to continue appearing on the show for her second season, along with the returning cast members Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, and Ramona Singer. After the explosive party episode of season 12, it remains to be seen whether Ramona Singer and her friend Elyse Slaine will come back for another round or bid adieu to the series.

What can The Real Housewives of New York City Season 13 be About?

Season 11 involves a lot of alcohol-fueled fights and somber parties gone wild. In the volatile season, Dorinda Medley, Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Leah McSweeney, and Tinsley Mortimer engage in multiple fights with each other at the drop of a hat, without any valid reason. In a shocking turn of events, Mortimer announces that she is moving to Chicago to be with her man, Scott Kluth. Of course, it creates a lot of fireworks but Ramona Singer directs them towards the new cast member – Leah McSweeney.

Throughout the season, Ramona throws shade at Leah, who yearns for an explanation for all the hate but in vain. The original cast member doesn’t even spare her best friend, Sonja Morgan from her wrath. Things go haywire at Ramona’s birthday party when Leah and Luann engage in some grinding session, while a drunk Sonja stomps on a mirror. Visibly enraged, Ramona lashes out at the production crew and threatens to quit the show. In the finale, Luann gears up for her cabaret while Leah struggles to bridge the gap between herself and her mother.

Season 13 might continue to showcase the changing dynamics between the cast members, after the departure of Dorinda and Mortimer. If Ramona continues to be a part of the show despite her threat to quit it in the finale, we can expect her to clash with Leah over their lifestyles and ideologies. There is a chance that Leah might go guns-a-blazing at Ramona and confront her on the condescending attitude she displays towards the fashion designer. New alliances will be formed after the addition of some fresh faces in the cast. On a personal front, Ramona might continue to navigate the dating scene.
