Where to Stream The Terminator?

With catchphrases and dialogues like “I’ll be back” becoming an indispensable part of pop culture, there was never any doubt that ‘The Terminator’ will remain one of Hollywood’s most celebrated works. The 1984 American science fiction movie comes from James Cameron and helped establish the director’s career. Ever since its release, the film has gone on to spawn an entire franchise that includes other movies, video games, and comics. In 2008, ‘The Terminator’ was added to the National Film Registry for its cultural, historical and aesthetic significance.

The basic story is about a cyborg assassin known as the Terminator being sent back in time from 2029 to 1984, in order to kill a woman, whose son grows up to become the savior against machines in a post-apocalyptic world. Naturally, ‘The Terminator’ is one of those movies that capture the essence of Hollywood. It has fast pacing and several action scenes. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who plays the titular role, also received praise for his performance. If you have not seen the movie, you must be wondering where to watch it, or you might want to rewatch the iconic first movie of the franchise. Either way, we have you covered, but before we tell you where to watch the film, let us tell you a little about ‘The Terminator’.

What is The Terminator About?

‘The Terminator’ follows the story of the titular killing machine who comes back in time to eliminate Sarah Connor, the mother of John, who ultimately leads a rebellion against the AI called Skynet, which plans to unleash a holocaust. Skynet’s last-ditch attempt to nip the problem in the bud includes time travel to kill the rebel leader’s mother. However, the rebellion sends back a soldier named Kyle to protect her.

When the Terminator arrives, he manages to blend in and evades the authorities. However, his actions soon draw attention from all quarters as he keeps killing women by the name of Sarah Connor, finding their addresses from the phone book. In fact, he tracks down the last Sarah to a nightclub, but Kyle intervenes, allowing the two to escape with the Terminator giving chase in a police car. Kyle takes the opportunity to explain the situation to Sarah about how her own unborn son has sent help from the future while explaining how the Terminator’s endoskeleton is made of metal and the external layer has living tissue to make it appear human.

With this deadly assassin on their tail, another encounter is inevitable. Kyle and Sarah run into the Terminator once again and are apprehended by the police this time. Naturally, they are not as inclined to believe Kyle’s story and consider him to be delusional and paranoid. The Terminator ironically proves Kyle right by attacking the police station to retrieve Sarah. In the process, he kills 17 police officers. The duo escapes and starts making pipe bombs to try and stop the Terminator. Kyle shows Sarah the photo John gave him. He confesses that he has been in love with Sarah since. The latter reciprocates, and the two get together. The Terminator kills Sarah’s mother trying to track her and mimics her voice. When Sarah calls her mother to ensure her safety, it puts the Terminator back on their tail.

There is an intense face-off, as the Terminator chases the duo on a bike. Kyle injures himself throwing pipe bombs at the assassin. When Kyle is hurt, Sarah’s rage takes over and she knocks the Terminator off the bike but also flips her own vehicle over in the process. The unstoppable thing from the future hijacks a tank truck next and gives chase. Kyle manages to blow up this truck as well, exposing the Terminator’s endoskeleton. The trio continues this fight in a machine factory, where Kyle sacrifices himself to kill the Terminator. While he blows it to half, he manages to injure Sarah as well. Sarah finishes the job, drawing the Terminator to a hydraulic press, where it is crushed.

The end of the movie sees the woman passing through Mexico, recording audio tapes to give to her son, John. She wonders whether to tell him that Kyle is his father. As she stops at a gas station, a boy takes an instant photograph of her. It is shown to be the same picture that John gave to Kyle. Now, let us tell you where to watch the movie.
