The Walking Dead: The World Beyond Season 1 Release Date: When will it premiere?

The Walking Dead: The World Beyond releases on April 12, 2020, at 10 p.m. ET on AMC, just after the season 10 finale of The Walking Dead. Following its premiere, the show will air its subsequent episodes on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.

The World Beyond was originally conceptualized as a limited series, comprising 20 episodes. Season 1 consists of 10 episodes and the next season will span the remaining 10 episodes — marking the end of the show.

The Walking Dead: The World Beyond Cast: Who is in it?

The cast of The World Beyond is led by Julia Ormond as Elizabeth, the “charismatic leader of a large, sophisticated and formidable force” — as described by AMC. Joining her is Aliyah Royale as Iris, Annet Mahendru as Huck, Alexa Mansour as Hope, Nicolas Cantu as Elton, and Hal Cumpston as Silas.

While Hope is a good-natured young girl who does not hesitate to break a few rules along the way, she enjoys living each day to the fullest. On the other hand, Elton looks small for his age and is a friendly guy with an old soul. He also has a black belt in karate. Meanwhile, Silas is big for his age, is shy, kind of a loner, and ends up scaring kids.

The Walking Dead: The World Beyond Plot: What is it about?

The plot of The World Beyond is centered around two strong and young females, who are among the first to have grown up within the apocalypse shown in The Walking Dead. They are the first generation of survivors from this new coming-of-age group. While some of their peers have become heroes, the rest have progressed to turn evil. However, in their journey, they see several changes — some of which become embedded in their identities forever.

During the SDCC 2019, the chief content officer of The Walking Dead, Scott M. Gimple gave further insights into the storyline explored in The World Beyond. He said: “There’s a big secret about the Walking Dead universe. All these years we’ve just seen a tiny sliver of the Walking Dead world. There’s a whole lot of world out there. The big secret is that all along, there have been other civilizations that survived the apocalypse. We saw hints of that in season seven of The Walking Dead and again in [Fear the Walking Dead‘s] “The End of Everything,” and now we’re about to show a lot more of the world in a bunch of different projects.”

The World Beyond introduces fans to a new type of civilization, where the characters reside. But they have not seen the huge struggle that had erupted in the other parts of the world. They grew up in comfortable homes while knowing nothing but safety. However, when they abandon their habitat to undertake a quest on their own, they realize the actual danger they are in.
