‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’ is the third series of the superhit ‘The Walking Dead’ franchise. Created by Scott M. Gimple and Matthew Negrete, it is mainly a coming-of-age story, following a group of teens who face the world, a decade after the zombie apocalypse. ‘World Beyond’ treads untouched territories, coupled with strong performances and a fresh perspective within ‘The Walking Dead’ universe. Of course, fans of the forerunner were instantly enticed to watch this extended version. But since ‘World Beyond’ has wrapped up with its inaugural outing, let’s dive into the details of its second iteration.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2 Release Date:
‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’ season 1 premiered on October 4, 2020, on AMC. It wrapped up with its two-part season finale (episodes 9 and 10) on November 29, 2020. Although the show was created as a limited event, it will come back for another season. This is because it was given a two-season order — a piece of news that was released even before season one dropped on tv screens.
In early 2020, AMC’s Sarah Barnett said at the TCA: “It is not imitating The Walking Dead either in substance or form – World Beyond is a two-season closed-ended series that will tell a very specific and distinct story.” The show’s official Twitter account also confirms this statement:

According to reports, production has already commenced for the second outing. But with the global pandemic continuing to plague the entertainment industry, we expect ‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’ season 2 to premiere not earlier than late 2021. Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2 Cast: Who Can be in it?
The four main protagonists who make up the teen crew in ‘World Beyond’ is expected to return for season 2. They are Aliyah Royale as Iris Bennett (an aspiring scientist), Alexa Mansour as Hope Bennett (Iris’ adoptive sister), Hal Cumpston as Silas Plaskett, and Nicolas Cantu as Elton Ortiz. We also expect to see the comeback of Nico Tortorella as Felix Carlucci, Ted Sutherland as Percy, and Annet Mahendru as Huck. The second season should also see appearances from Julia Ormond as Elizabeth Kublek (the Lieutenant Colonel of the CRM), Joe Holt as Leo Bennett (Hope and Iris’s father), and Natalie Gold as Lyla Belshaw (Leo’s colleague at the CRM).
The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2 Plot: What Can it be About?
‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s first season reveals multiple secrets. Huck is secretly working for the CRM and her mom, Elizabeth. Hope is the ‘asset’, which means that the CRM plans on using her intelligence to save the future. In order to protect her friends, Hope leaves them behind and accompanies Huck. What the CRM does not know is, Hope is not that effective when her sister Iris is not by her side. But the siblings know this.
Toward the end, Iris admits to Felix that she and Hope have planned to destroy the CRM — both from the inside and the outside. Felix’s boyfriend is also revealed to be alive. Silas is captured by the CRM, following his surrender, to save Elton and Percy. Leo is not sure about the CRM’s true intentions and this causes friction between him and his friend Lyla.
Season 2 will pick up the story from here and shed more light on the exact plans of the CRM and Elizabeth. The next iteration will additionally highlight how the characters have changed and begin to embrace their darker sides. Showrunner Matt Negrete explained in an interview with EW about what can be expected from the future episodes: “As we get into season 2, I can tease that we’ll be exploring more aspects of the CRM and delving further into the mythology of who and what they are. I will say that the end of season 1 is the end of basically chapter 1, and chapter 2 of World Beyond is going to be a very different feeling chapter than season 1 was.”
