‘The Woods’ is based on Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name and follows Paweł Kopiński, a prosecutor, whose sister went missing in the woods near her summer camp, some 25 years earlier. Over time, Pawel manages to make a life for himself but still struggles with the loss and cannot quite move on from his sister’s unsolved disappearance. However, when the body of a boy who had also disappeared with her, is discovered, new evidence emerges that the woman might be alive. The family secrets that begin rearing their heads threaten to tear Pawel’s life apart.
The series is gripping right till the end and might leave you wondering if we will see ‘The Woods’ Season 2 on Netflix. Here’s what might happen.
The Woods Season 2 Release Date
‘The Woods’ Season 1 released on Netflix on June 12, 2020. All episodes dropped at once and effectively, the first season finishes the story that Coben has penned down. So, what does that mean for the show’s future? Well, the aura of mystery that we see in the beginning might be enough to get the show greenlit for another season. If Netflix okays the project, ‘The Woods’ Season 2 is likely to release sometime by June 2021.
The Woods Season 2 Cast: Who Can Be In It?
If ‘The Woods’ returns for another season, we are sure to see Paweł Kopiński return. After all, the way he copes with his sister’s disappearance and then attempts to get to the bottom of the mystery makes him a compelling central character. Grzegorz Damiecki, who can be seen in ‘Schindler’s List,’ will reprise his role as Pawel. We might also see Laura Goldsztajn, played by Agnieszka Grochowska. laura, Pawel’s childhood friend, is dragged back into the story as the mystery emerges from the past.
The Woods Season 2 Plot: What Can It Be About?
Since ‘The Woods’ Season 1 effectively ends the storyline as we know it, the new season might head in any direction. We could see Pawel coping with the knowledge of what happened to his sister that night in the woods. While this would maintain continuity in the tale, there is not much left to be explored here, without turning the gripping series into a slow-paced psychological exploration.
Instead, there is a greater chance that we might see Pawel handling a tough case as a prosecutor, and perhaps elements of the case remind him of his dark past. It would be the perfect balance between the personal and professional, as Pawel would be hard-pressed to confront his demons and win the trial. However, it ultimately boils down to the direction the show makers choose to take if the new season takes place.
