‘To Your Eternity’ or ‘Fumetsu no Anata e’ is a fantasy TV anime that is based on Yoshitoki Ōima’s Japanese manga series of the same name. The series centers upon a nameless and formless entity that learns about language, human behavior, and emotions following his interaction with earthlings. Slowly it also forms a deep relationship with people, one of whom gives it the name, Fushi. ‘To Your Eternity’ episode 17, titled ‘The Defeated,’ is all set to premiere on August 9, 2021, in Japan on NHK Educational TV. Season 1 has 20 episodes. The anime is developed by the Japanese animation studio Brain’s Base, with Shinzou Fujita overseeing the scripts and Masahiko Murata helming the directorial team.

The characters are designed by Koji Yabuno, and Ryou Kawasaki has composed the series music. The opening theme, “PINK BLOOD,” is performed by Hikaru Utada, while the ending theme, “Mediator,” is sung by Masashi Hamauzu.

In episode 16 titled, ‘The Children’s Dreams’ Tonari writes her story in her diary. Several years ago, when she was just a little girl, Tonari used to live with her parents far away from the island. She had a loving family, but one ordinary day in summer, when she wakes up, Tonari finds her mother’s dead body. Elan G. Dalton, her father, is accused of murder, and knowing that she does not want the life of an orphan, the young girl joins him on the ruthless island where people indiscriminately murder each other.

After some time, Elan decides to take part in the tournament, realizing that there is no other escape. Although he is declared the winner and becomes the new leader, Tonari is shocked by the murder and mayhem left by the brutal fighting. Elan is later poisoned, but Tonari still does not give up on her hopes of leaving the island, so she plans for several years and finally gets imports work to achieve her goal.

Unfortunately, the people outside don’t accept her, and that’s when she meets a mysterious hooded woman who tells her to take Fushi to the island as he is the only hope for the people there. However, it turns out that the woman is Hayase, and she is the final Fushi’s final opponent in the tournament.

She admits that she murdered Parona, which naturally angers Fushi, and he begins to attack violently. Unfortunately, none of his attacks land on Hayase’s body, and she easily incapacitates him. In episode 17, Hayase may use her power as the leader of the island to hurt Fushi’s loved ones. Fushi will finally realize that his immortality alone will not be enough to take out his arch-enemy.
