Tony Hawk, real name Anthony Frank Hawk, was born on 12 May 1968 in California, the US to parents Nancy and Frank Peter Rupert Hawk. He went to the Jean Farb Middle School and also received sponsorship for skating. He practiced skateboarding a lot when he was 12 at the now-dysfunctional Oasis Skatepark. As he was hyperactive from an early age, his passion for skateboarding was the perfect outlet for the excessive energy. He would keep testing his limit, in order to discover his capability and skills, and would be tougher on himself than any other person could have ever been. He is a self-taught skateboarder and by the age of 16, Hawk established a name as one of the top skateboarders in America.

Tony Hawk is not only an American skateboarder but is also an actor and owner of the skateboard company ‘Birdhouse.’ In the year 1982, Hawk joined the team ‘Bones Brigade,’ a renowned name in professional skateboarding. The team consisted of members Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero among others who held a whole reputation due to their skills. He has been a part of many movies as well as television shows since the time he started off his career. He entered into an acting career with the 1986 movie “Thrashi’” where he played the role of a skater double.

Along with compatriot Per Welinder, Hawk started the skateboard company ‘Birdhouse.’ In the initial days of establishing the company, they struggled a lot to make the ends meet. But later, when extreme sports gained recognition in the year 1995, skateboarding came to the forefront.

Hawk was the first skateboarder to land a ‘900°,’ which is a trick that involves the completion of ‘two-and-a-half mid-air revolutions’ using a skateboard. He tried the trick on 27 July 1999. In the year 1999, Hawk launched a video game series ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater,’ based on the skateboarding skills he possessed. The games series to date has 18 titles.

Later, Hawk began his own extreme sports exhibition and tour known as ‘Boom Boom HuckJam’ in 2002 in Los Angeles. Many parks have also been established under ‘Tony Hawk Foundation’ which has given grants for the development of many public skateboard parks in areas which have a low-income level. Moreover, a series of amusement park rides called ‘Tony Hawk’s Big Spin’ were established in three Six Flags parks in the year 2007 and 2008.  Later, the rides were billed as Tony Hawk experience.” in the year 2012, a new ride called ‘Superman: Ultimate Fight’ was established at the Six Flags Mexico parks, after a ride at Six Flags the Discovery Kingdom was moved here to make way for this new ride. In the year 2012, Hawk launched a Youtube channel known as ‘Ride,’ which further helped him gain a broader fan base. Hawk had partnered with a few other renowned skateboarders from the industry for the channel. The movies which starred Hawks include ‘Haggard’, ‘Waiting for Lighting’, ‘Police Academy 4’, ‘Comedy Bang! Bang!’ and ‘The Other F Word.’
