Who’s the biggest movie star in the world? A million-dollar question, the answer to which depends on who you are asking the question to. Also, how do you decide who is a bigger star, say, between Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise? We did a simple exercise to try to come with an answer. We shortlisted twenty movie stars with the highest worldwide box-office gross. The top ten among them were then again shortlisted, and finally ranked based on their average box office per movie. Of course, this form of ranking has its own limitations. Prime among them is that it doesn’t take into account whether the actor played the leading role or the supporting role in the film. In any case, we had to be objective when preparing this list. With that said, here are the 10 biggest movie stars in the world, ranked by their box office collections.
Note: Unfortunately, not a single female actor could crack the list of ten (only Jennifer Lawrence came close). But don’t blame us. Blame Hollywood.
