Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood plot:

Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood is set in the modern day, and as the name suggests, it follows a vampire who co-exists with humans.

The story primarily revolves around a high school student called Akari Amano and a vampire called Sophie Twilight. After Sophie saves Akari from a strange incident, she arrives at Sophie’s house uninvited and starts living with her. Akari is shown to be fascinated by Sophie and her beautiful, doll-like appearance, and after the two start living together, the show, in an episodic manner, chronicles noteworthy incidents in their life together. While Akari also feels attracted to Sophie sporadically, their relationship remains a friendship and has no physical elements. The first part of the first season focuses on Akari’s efforts to get close to Sophie while the latter half of the season chronicles the duo’s life together. Overall, Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood is a funny and enjoyable watch which has quite a few memorable moments.

Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood Characters:

Owing to its format and relatively simple plot, Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood only has a few characters, and a majority of them are important. Below, we’ve provided you with brief backgrounds on each of the important characters in the show.

[WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD]

Sophie Twilight: One of the two main protagonists of the show, Sophie is a 360-year-old vampire who is immune to ageing. Of course, being a vampire, Sophie is extremely vulnerable to sunlight and spends most of her day indoors, away from it. She is usually awake at night, and this when she is most active. In spite of being a vampire and in spite of having lived for almost 400 years, Sophie is shown to be averse to attacking humans and drinking their blood. Instead, she has a more modern solution to her lust for blood and drinks refrigerated blood. Sophie also has the appearance of a high school student and is extremely refined. Further, she is quite the geek with a love for manga, anime and the like, and she enjoys going to comic book conventions and ordering otaku goods.

Akari Amano: The second main protagonist of the show, Akari is a high school student who gets saved by Sophie during an untoward incident and develops a liking for her. Eventually, after trying to get close to Sophie, Akari moves in with her and the two start living together. Akari is shown to be particularly fond of dolls, and she gets fascinated by Sophie and her doll-like appearance. While she genuinely enjoys the time she spends with Sophie and is really fond of her, her compulsion to spend time with Sophie also stems from a sense of gratitude. Further, it is also hinted that Akari has sporadic romantic feelings for Sophie, but this never develops into a physical relationship and the two remain good friends throughout the show.

Hinata Natsuki: Another main character in the show, Hinata is Akari’s classmate and best friend and she has a tendency to worry about Akari. While the show is primarily about Akari and Sophie, the chemistry between Akari and Hinata is so serviceable that the show even has episodes dedicated to just the two of them. For instance, there is one episode in the show where Hinata and Akari attempt to finish their homework but get distracted and go to the arcade before visiting a local cafe.

Ellie: The final main character in the show, Ellie is also a vampire girl who is a long time acquaintance of Sophie’s. Her character is a comical take on 16th century Hungarian noblewoman and serial killer Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed, who was rumoured to be a vampire. Ellie meets Akari after she wakes up from a slumber of 100 years, and later in the show, she develops romantic feelings for Hinata.
