‘Why Women Kill’ season 2 episode 5 titled ‘They Made Me A Killer’ kicks off with Bertram revisiting his first kill, Harriet, who was not even slightly hesitant about dying. It is revealed that she was his mother, and Bertram was no more than ten years old. In the present, Bertram has a dream of Aunt Martha and immediately informs Alma about it. Bertram proposes that he should see a psychiatrist who might help him with his urges.

Meanwhile, Rita is doing her best to shift all the votes for the garden club nomination away from Alma. Scooter tries to capture Catherine’s attention and asks her out. She says yes. Dee spills the truth to Alma, who is surprised at learning about Rita’s betrayal of her husband. Keegan tells Bertram that even though he’s retired, the seal of the confessional is still relevant.

Elsewhere, Vern and Dee are about to make love when she realizes that he has a purple heart. Bertram spills the beans about every kill he has ever made. Keegan is concerned about the underlying motive behind his total of 26 kills. Carlo assembles a pile of Scrabble tiles in a way that suggests he is aware of Rita’s betrayal. Dee receives a call from a doctor declaring that she is pregnant. Alma walks in on a destroyed garden after reading a note with threats from Rita. As her mind entertains possible ways to seek revenge, she thinks about Bertram’s history of murders.
