Based on David Levithan and Rachel Cohn’s YA novel ‘Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares,’ Netflix’s ‘Dash & Lily’ is a sweet romance between Christmas-hating cynic Dash and Yule-loving introvert Lily. Dash and Lily fall in love before they even meet – by trading dares, dreams, and thoughts in a red notebook that they swap by leaving it at designated places all over a festive New York City. The inaugural season opened to favorable reviews and also garnered a fan-following. Naturally, fans must be clamoring to know when season 2 will release. Here is everything we know!
Dash & Lily Season 2 Release Date
‘Dash & Lily’ season 1 released on November 10, 2020, on Netflix. All eight episodes were dropped at once. Season 1 was announced back in October 2020, but Netflix has not announced season 2 yet, which is fine since Netflix usually takes some time to renew shows for further seasons.
Although there have been a few unconfirmed reports that ‘Dash & Lily’ has already been renewed for a second season, there’s no confirmation from the streaming giant or the producers yet. If the show does get renewed for another season, we can probably expect ‘Dash & Lily’ season 2 to release sometime in late 2021. The series is inherently Christmas-themed, and therefore it makes sense that Netflix would release it as part of their holiday season content.
Dash & Lily Season 2 Cast: Who can be in it?
Austin Abrams and Midori Francis play the leads Dash and Lily, respectively. The leads are supported by an ensemble cast playing friends and family, including Glenn McCuen, Michael Park, James Saito, Dante Brown, Jodi Long, Troy Iwata, Diego Guevara, and Keana Marie.
If renewed for a season 2, the lead actors Abrams and Francis are expected to reprise their roles, along with Dante Brown as Dash’s BFF Boomer, James Saito as Lily’s grandfather, Jodi Long as Lily’s godmother and great aunt, Troy Iwata as Lily’s brother Langston, and Keana Marie as Dash’s ex.
Dash & Lily Season 2 Plot: What can it be About?
Season 1 of ‘Dash & Lily’ sees the protagonists meet (not quite in the literal sense initially) and get to know one another through a series of dares and interactions by the medium of a notebook that they pass back and forth between each other. The first season ends with Dash and Lily embarking on a new relationship, confessing their romantic feelings on New Year’s Eve.
If the creators decide to follow the story in the book series, then each new season will be set in the days leading up to Christmas. The second book – ‘The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily’ – follows Dash and their circle of friends rallying to make Manhattan a magical Christmas wonderland for Lily, whose usual good cheer and festive spirit are absent in the wake of her Grandpa’s fragile health. There’s a good chance that season 2 of the show will follow the same (or maybe similar) direction.
