Will There be a Jolt Sequel?

Directed by Tanya Wexler (‘Buffaloed’), ‘Jolt’ is a feminist action-comedy film. It revolves around a woman named Lindy, who has a mental condition called Intermittent explosive disorder that causes her to have periodic angry and violent outbursts. Furthermore, as an excessive amount of Cortisol is present in her body, Lindy is stronger and faster than most people. When Justin, a seemingly mellow and considerate man, is killed before their third date, Lindy begins her search for the killers. The film has a fun premise, and Kate Beckinsale is as believable as ever as an action hero. The film ends after providing some hints about a possible sequel. If you want to know more about it, we got you covered.

Jolt 2 Release Date

‘Jolt’ premiered on July 23, 2021, on Amazon Prime. The film has received moderate reviews, with some critics praising the action sequences and the comedic elements in the film. As for a ‘Jolt’ sequel, this is what we know. No official statement has been yet made confirming or denying the development of a sequel. However, Beckinsale said in an interview that she would like to do another film set in the same universe. According to her, there is a need for action films with flawed, bold, and cheeky female leads. So, if a sequel to ‘Jolt’ does get made, she will most likely be involved in it. Moreover, the film’s ending hints toward a potential continuation of the story.

After Lindy kills Justin with explosives, she confronts Munchin, her psychiatrist and friend who was supplying information about her to the CIA. It is in Munchin’s office that Vicars and Nevin find her. Vicars shoots her in the leg, believing that she will kill Munchin. After she is released from the hospital, Lindy goes back to her burned apartment, where she finds a woman in a suit waiting for her. It is revealed that the woman is a CIA operative and was involved in the experiments that the agency did on Lindy. She asks Lindy to come and work for the CIA, adding that it will bring a sense of purpose to the other woman’s life. The film ends before Lindy gives her answer.

In the prospective ‘Jolt’ sequel, Lindy’s choice and its consequences might be explored. She might decide to accept the woman’s offer and start working for the CIA. She might also start dating Vicars, and he might serve as her sidekick. Evidently, the filmmakers have left enough plot threads open for them to explore in future projects.

Ultimately, it all depends upon how well ‘Jolt’ performs in terms of viewership. If everything goes well, and the second film is greenlit in the next few months, expect ‘Jolt Sequel’ to come out sometime in 2023.
