‘Solo Leveling’ is a manhwa series written by Chugong and illustrated by Jang Sung-rak (or Dubu). Its first issue came out in KakaoPage on March 4, 2018. Exactly two years later, on March 19, 2020, the first season of the manhwa came to an end. Season 2 began publishing on August 1, 2020. The series originally started as a South Korean web novel written by Chugong back in July 2016. It is now one of the most popular manhwa series in the world. No official statement has yet been released either confirming or denying the development of a ‘Solo Leveling’ anime. However, the massive popularity of the source material has ensured that there will be a considerable amount of interest in the anime as well. Fans have taken to various social media platforms to speculate about a prospective anime adaptation. There is even a Change.org petition that requests Netflix to make the adaptation. As of summer 2021, it has garnered over 200,000 signatures.

In season 1, we might see how Sung Jin-Woo transforms from the weakest hunter to the strongest one. Initially, he and other weak hunters might raid low-level dungeons. During one of his excursions, he and his comrades might find themselves inside a double lair. Jin-Woo might sacrifice himself in the fight between the hunters and the boss of the second-lair. This will likely earn him the “player” status and access to the quest book.
Later, he might wake up in a hospital and discover that all the critical injuries he had received during the fight in the dungeon have somehow miraculously healed. The quest log might start giving him daily quests so that his player levels might improve. The anime will probably establish the strong bond that Jin-Woo has with both his sister and mother. At some point, ‘Solo Leveling’ might introduce Cha Hae-In, a potential love interest for Jin-Woo.
