When Will ‘Women of the Night’ Return to Netflix?

Netflix has been continually ramping up its repertoire of foreign dramas and Women of the Night is another title from its collection. The Dutch series, told through the eyes of its protagonist, and inspired by a true story, gives us a revealing insight into the rampant corruption and greed, propelled by a burgeoning escort industry in Amsterdam.

Season 1 of the show, owing to its eye-opening concept and controversial subject, managed to earn positive reviews from critics and viewers alike. Here’s everything we know about Women of the Night season 2.

Women of the Night Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?

Women of the Night season 1 premiered on March 13, 2020, on Netflix. It consisted of 10 episodes. Prior to its global release, it had debuted with its first episode on AVROTROS on November 10, 2019.

Netflix is yet to officially confirm if it will greenlight the series for another season. If the ratings and viewership numbers meet the expectations of the streamer, there is no doubt that the show will be recommissioned in the next couple of months. After all, Netflix is hell-bent on adding more foreign titles in order to appeal to a broader audience. If renewed, we can expect Women of the Night season 2 to release sometime in March 2021.

Women of the Night Cast: Who can be in it?

The cast of Women of the Night is led by Karina Smulders as Xandra Keizer, Susan Radder as Lulu Keizer, Matteo van der Grijn as Michiel Pressman, Hilde van Mieghem as Sylvia Keizer, Imanuelle Grives as Pamela, Thijs Römer as Beertje, Dragan Bakema as Ralph Rabbit, Mike Lebanon as Ronnie, Roeland Fernhout as Cees de Wolf, Daphne Wellens as Marieke, Isis Cabolet as Anne, Julia Akkermans as Janna, Anne-Laure Vandeputte as Bibi, Nienke van Hofslot as Daisy, and Joy Wielkens as Kea.

If the show is renewed for a second season, we expect all the lead cast members to reprise their original roles.

Women of the Night Plot: What can it be about?

Women of the Night is set in a world, fraught with power, privilege, and luxury, which leads its key players to resort to manipulation. In the political scene ruled by the elite in Amsterdam, nobody hesitates to push boundaries in order to reach the top.

This is where we meet the ambitious Xandra Keizer, whose life gets dangerously entangled in risky double identity. She enters the nightlife, which is filled with sex, drugs, and violence — something that was a part of her past and which she had tried to discard in her present. She struggles to withhold this information from her husband and daughter but things take a drastic turn when a criminal mum from her previous days makes an appearance.

What happens is, Xandra Keizer tries to help out Pamela by organizing a high-class international escort event. The evening is successful but after this, Xandra is pulled deeper into the alluring world of sex, drugs, and violence. She even meets her mum Sylvia, who was responsible for her dark history. As Xandra tries to maintain this dual identity, she finds it increasingly difficult to lead a normal life with her family.

Season 2, if it happens, is expected to chronicle Xandra’s journey further as she seeks absolution from her past that has come back to haunt her.
