In the premiere episode of ‘You, Me & My Ex,’ titled ‘My Ex and My Next,’ the five primary couples are introduced. Jessica and Jerry had decided to part ways after being married for fifteen years. They have four children together, and it is not unusual for them to sometimes get back to their old habits like sharing a bed together, spending quality time with the kids, etc. But now, Kayee, Jerry’s present girlfriend, has moved in too, and Jessica disapproves of the fact that he met her online.
Kayee, on the other hand, is tensed about her boyfriend living with his ex, but her love for him prompts her to accept reality for what it is. Next up is Jimmy and his ex-wife Lisa living together with their son Dominic who is 20-years-old. However, the roof is also shared by Wendy, his wife, who has been married to him for 18 years and is also the mother of his child named Alexander. Lisa’s fiance Jack joins them too. The next separated couple we see are Alex and Stephen, who still talk to each other on Facetime. Alex is now dating Caroline, who he met at work.
Although Alex initially identified as gay, he realized that he is a trisexual person after meeting his current beau. Caroline is frustrated with her boyfriend’s intimate dynamic with his ex. Meanwhile, Jerry arranges a temporary setup for Kayee in the game room until they get a bed ready. She is nearly their son’s age which Jessica thinks could be a bad influence. Lisa and Jimmy reminisce over an old letter that he had written her. They talk about their divorce and the reason that caused it. She suggests that it is time for his son to know the truth.
