Zendaya Coleman nurtured her passion for acting at the California Shakespeare Theater near her hometown, Oakland. She became a regular at other theater companies in the neighborhood with her performances by the time she grew up to be a young girl. She got her first breakthrough with the 2010 teen comedy series ‘Shake It Up’ on Disney Channel. The show, which told the touching story of two best friends who chase their dreams of becoming professional dancers, went on to become a huge hit. Zendaya along with her co-star Bella Thorne were hailed as the icons of their generation. The duo stole the show with their songs and even launched their own fashion brand at the peak of their popularity.

In 2013, Zendaya landed the popular dance show ‘Dancing with the Stars’ along with dancer Val Chmerkovskiy. The pair rubbed shoulders with the likes of Andy Dick, Kellie Pickler and Aly Raisman in the dancing arena. After her dance reality show stint, Zendaya returned to Disney with the comedy series ‘K.C. Undercover,’ which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2017. The year 2017 was remarkable in her career. The actress took the box office by storm with two back-to-back hits ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming‘ and ‘The Greatest Showman.’ Zendaya’s portrayal of the lead character Michelle “MJ” Jones opposite Tom Holland’s Peter Parker a.k.a Spider-Man was praised by critics and fans alike. In ‘The Greatest Showman,’ Zendaya joined Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, and Rebecca Ferguson. She played the role of a trapeze artist Anne Wheeler who falls for Zac Efron’s character. Their onscreen interracial romance garnered positive reviews.

The actress also lent her voice to animated flicks like ‘Duck Duck Goose‘ and ‘Smallfoot.’ She has also become keen to get rid of the ‘Disney’ girl typecasting and started choosing diverse roles since 2010. She never forgets her passion for music during her busy schedule. Zendaya has released the track ‘Something New’ with Chris Brown and performed ‘Rewrite the Stars’ with Zac Efron for ‘The Greatest Showman’ soundtrack.
