15 Biggest Mistakes in Bollywood Movies That We Bet You Did Not Notice

5. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015)

The Sooraj Barjatya movie, which looked like it belonged to a different era, was so full of bloopers that one could barely sit through it till the end. One mistake that stood out was when Salman Khan’s stuffed shirt character Vijay is returning home in his carriage, when the crown prince is left to die. While the carriage falls downhill, the horses tugging it miraculously disappear! Also, when Vijay is secretly taken care of in the dungeon, it has all sorts of equipment, right from computer monitors to ECG machines, which work on electricity; yet there are fire torches lit everywhere. Why Sooraj, why?

4. Lagaan (2001)

This timeless Ashutosh Gowariker film saw movie theatres turning into cricket stadiums everywhere. We rooted for the villagers to win the match so that their taxes could be dismissed. Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan saw to it that every tiny bit of detail looked authentic, but little did him and Gowariker realise that half-baked research is not a good idea after all. Apart from the eight-ball-in-a-single-over-in-olden-days blunder, Gowariker also did not get other facts right. The front foot no-ball rule was introduced only in 1963, more than six decades after the time the film is set in! So, for these mistakes Ashutosh, tum lagaan doge?

3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)

This Karan Johar film kept harping on the fact that friendship is love and vice versa; but had he paid a little more attention to the storyline, he would have come up with a better idea to reunite Rahul and Anjali! While Rani Mukerji’s character Tina is on her deathbed, she writes eight letters to her daughter, which had stories from their past, so that the little one could help rekindle the love between her dad and his friend. But hey…can a baby begin reading from the first year of birth itself? Pffft…!

2. Ajnabee (2001)

This Abbas-Mustan suspense thriller was every bit thrilling, until the climax came on and left a bitter taste in the mouth! ‘Ajnabee’, an Indianized version of ‘Consenting Adults’, had Akshay Kumar’s character that did not believe in coincidences. According to him, everything was planned. And this kind of planning from the director duo is what we did not like. While they ensured the thriller was taut, they forgot that everywhere in the world, passwords are marked with asterisks unless you ask them to be shown. So how in the world did a Bank of Singapore account read out the password? Oh please!

1. Sholay (1975)

This classic film had a bit of everything. Thanks to Salim-Javed’s storytelling, the film still grabs our attention. The movie also happened to be a treasure trove of bloopers. While Gabbar dismembers Thakur’s hands, Sanjeev Kumar inadvertently shows them off from under his kurta in the climax scene when he’s kicking Gabbar to death. Also, ‘Sholay’ is set in a village with very little technological advancement, so much so that they used lanterns for lighting purposes. So how did they have an electricity-operated overhead water tanker? Guess Thakur climbed upstairs with his ‘bare hands’ to fill it up!
