Prime Video’s ‘Reacher‘ returns for another action-packed season that puts the protagonist through the wringer as he tries to get justice for the innocent. The story begins in Philadelphia, where Jack Reacher takes a late-night subway, and he encounters a distressed woman who kills herself. To discover the cause of her actions, Reacher decides to dig into her story, which doesn’t sit well with many people. He quickly makes many enemies, leading him to seek out people he can trust. Detective Tamara Green happens to be one of them. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Tamara Green is a Formidable Detective Working With Reacher
Detective Tamara Green comes into the picture after Reacher is brought to the police station after he witnesses the suicide of Anna Merrick. While he is being interviewed, Reacher quickly concludes that he is not being considered a suspect, but he is being held so the higher-ups can question him. He immediately takes a dislike to the detective interviewing him, but also realizes that his partner, Tamara Green, is the smarter of the two. He reads her as a sharp, trustworthy detective with great potential, but who was relegated to the menial department she is in now because she messed up with the wrong people and was punished for asking questions and doing things she shouldn’t have done.
While Tamara doesn’t immediately open up to Reacher, her ethics as a police officer are clear to him. This is why, when the time comes, he seeks her out for help, knowing that she is the only one he can trust at a time when everyone seems to be working for someone who wants to bury the truth about Anna. At first, Tamara wishes to distance herself from whatever mess Reacher is trying to drag her into. But once she is involved, she dedicates herself to getting to the bottom of the truth, no matter what. What makes her and Reacher get along better is that she, too, is a no-nonsense person like him, who believes in truth and justice.
Sydelle Noel Brings the Tenacious Tamara to Life
Sydelle Noel plays the role of Detective Tamara Green in the fourth season of ‘Reacher.’ She is best-known for playing Cherry Bang in Netflix’s ‘GLOW.’ While Noel is an accomplished actor with a range of roles to exhibit her versatility, acting wasn’t her first choice. Her heart was set on becoming an athlete, and in her early 20s, her focus was to train for the Olympics. She received a track scholarship to the University of Georgia and had been a professional track runner for several years, competing in events such as heptathlon, the 100-meter hurdles, and the long jump. However, she was forced to drop that dream after she suffered a stress fracture. Noel revealed that the injury left her pretty much “hopeless” for a while.
Noel spent most of her days at home and had completely stopped weight training and other workouts. This carried on for about a year until her sports manager proposed the idea of sports modeling. This led her to move to California, and modeling soon turned her towards acting in commercials. Sometime later, she started getting minor roles in TV shows, and eventually, she decided she wanted to be more than just a background actor. So, she started taking acting classes, and her prior experience of theatre classes in college also came in handy. Additionally, she interned at a casting director’s office, worked as a PA on commercials and music videos, and learned about the behind-the-scenes processes.
At the same time, Noel was also highly intentional about the roles she wanted to play. She didn’t want to book just any role and drift away from the kind of characters she wanted to play. So, to allow herself the luxury of choice, she took odd jobs such as an Uber driver, a babysitter, and a hostess. At the same time, she discovered that her athletic build was seen as a deterrent to landing some roles. At first, she admitted, she thought she should change the way she looked. However, she was encouraged by the people around her to lean into her physicality, which opened up a whole new world for her. Since then, she has added TV shows like CW’s ‘Arrow‘ and movies like ‘Black Panther‘ to her credit. With ‘Reacher,’ she has added another great character to her growing filmography.
