5. Tom Hiddleston as The Sadhu
Earlier, we’ve heard rumors of Nicolas Cage playing the role of James Jensen a.k.a. The Sadhu, a British Soldier who finds out that he’s the modern-day reincarnation of a sage and the soul-searching that follows. Fortunately, none of the rumors turned out to be true so far, and I guess Tom Hiddleston, with his impeccable British-accent and his humungous fan-following, would better suit the role. Having played the mythical Loki on the big screen, depicting The Sadhu would be a cakewalk for Tom. And we all are cognizant with the eerily conceited smile he dons on all his character portrayals.
4. Vikram as Parmanu
Parmanu signifies a sort of vigilantism, combined with the loss of his parents at an early age and his knack for notwithstanding all the bullshit of crime and criminals. Though we have seen many such superheroes with a troubled past, Parmanu also uses his technological advances and a Jarvis-like supercomputer for assistance, along with abilities like Morphosis and bending energy and matter. Chiyaan Vikram, having done many crime-based movies with a lot of action seemed a perfect fit and also his perfectionist stature in the film industry is a definite add-on. Not only will he bring the necessary darkness to the role, he would also unveil the so-far latent capabilities Parmanu has. Hopefully, Parmanu would be among the most popular Indian superheroes once again.
3. Sanjay Dutt as Doga
I pondered a lot over this one, and Sanjay Dutt appeared better suited being Doga, each and every single time. As of May 2017, Kunal Kapoor looked all set to play ‘Doga’ on the large screen, although any further details are mostly speculated and awaited. While we wait, and I don’t doubt Kunal Kapoor’s talent and the way he works for all of his projects, Sanjay Dutt can still better him in terms of his typecast action-hero image and his acting skills. If it matters, Sanjay Dutt’s voice under a dog’s mask (that Doga wears) will have a better impact, along with his beast-like physique that needs no introduction. All he has to do is a little more than being himself. Just a smidge.
2. Ranveer Singh as Nagraj
Be it the portrayal of the formidable Baji Rao or the negative shade of the eagerly awaited Alauddin Khilji, Ranveer seems to have aced it and has come across as a rising superstar. While Nagraj hasn’t been depicted in a movie so far, except for a widely mocked forgettable attempt by Sonu Sood (You can watch it here), Nagraj’s powers and abilities have always been a topic of debate and thought. If Ranveer is chosen for the role, definitely, the character has to be rewritten to identify with Ranveer’s style of enactment and also keeping in mind all the superpowers Nagraj has. I am sure there would be some well thought out CGI work in the movie as well.
1. Shahid Kapoor as Super Commando Dhruva
Super Commando Dhruva is the most athletic Indian superhero so far and possesses an about-average built yet a very toned musculature. His tactical ingenuity, his indomitable willpower to endure almost anything and his polished senses make him more human than a superhero. Shahid Kapoor has now established himself as a method actor, with gems like ‘Kaminey’, ‘Haider’, ‘Udta Punjab’ etc. in his kitty and Super Commando Dhruva’s portrayal would be a crowning jewel of his acting career. If it comes to it, Shahid Kapoor has to be the perfect choice for playing Dhruva Mehra a.k.a. Super Commando Dhruva, the P.O.E.M. leader and an ace stuntman, who could also do wonders with a bike.
