‘NCIS: New Orleans’ is one of the action-packed spin-offs of CBS’ flagship cop drama, ‘NCIS‘. Just like its parent series, it has been a staple on the network for the past six seasons. The last season saw remarkably good ratings (an average of 0.6) and viewership (around 6 million per episode) — which remained consistent throughout its run. And these numbers are exceptionally good for any cabler. That brings us to the question: when will ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ season 7 release. Let’s find out.
NCIS: New Orleans Season 7 Release Date: When Will It Premiere?
‘NCIS: New Orleans’ season 6 premiered on September 24, 2019, on CBS. After airing for 20 episodes, it wrapped up on April 19, 2020. ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ was one among the many titles that were affected by the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. It was forced to shut down production on March 13, 2020 — because of which its last episodes could not be filmed. As a result, the season did not get a proper closure.
CBS TV Studios, alongside Paramount TV Studios and Showtime, released a statement about their efforts to curb the proliferation of the novel Coronavirus. It said: “Over the past few days, we began making decisions to temporarily postpone production on some of our pilots and current series. At this time, we are evaluating situations on a case-by-case basis, informed by the best information from health experts and government officials. Some productions may continue as long as they do not involve live audiences and/or environments that are considered at risk. The safety and welfare of our production team is our top priority” — Deadline reported.
Star Rob Kerkovich took to Twitter to express his regrets about the hurried conclusion. This is what he tweeted:
Last night we learned that we’re shutting down for the rest of the season. Want to thank our amazing crew for giving 100% through 20 episodes of TV. Keep an eye out for Season 7, which at this point may just be clips from Sebastian’s TikTok. #ncisnola https://t.co/plZYaT7HOv

In spite of its premature end, ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ is a solid lead-generator for CBS. Moreover, season 6 saw a spiked viewership because of the countrywide lockdown. Hence, it was not a shocker when we learned that the show has been renewed for a new season. We expect ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ season 7 to release sometime in 2021. Although the show has been a part of CBS’ fall line-up since its launch, we expect the aforementioned delay due to the current health crisis — which is expected to push the filming to a later date.
NCIS: New Orleans Season 7 Cast: Who Can Be In It?
The cast of ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ is led by Scott Bakula as Dwayne Cassius Pride, Lucas Black as Christopher LaSalle, Necar Zadegan as Hannah Khoury, Rob Kerkovich as Sebastian Lund, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Patton Plame, C. C. H. Pounder as Loretta Wade, and Charles Michael Davis as Quentin Carter. Season 7 is expected to see the whole crew making their respective returns. However, we do not expect to see Lucas Black in the next installment after his character was killed off in season 6. The actor had also confirmed earlier that his role has ended in the series.
