10. Khaidi No. 150 (2017)
‘Khaidi No. 150’ featured the comeback of Chiranjeevi, after 10 Years, to complete his 150th Film. The film churned out money like magic, the crowd rushed in to see the Megastar back on screen, becoming 2nd biggest grosser of the year after Baahubali (well, no one is ever beating that). Here’s why ‘Khaidi No. 150’ disappoints a viewer, especially those who love A R Murugadoss’s Kaththi. The Vijay starter had the right amount of heroism with a perfect blend of emotion and content. V V Vinayak adapted this flick into Telugu, raising the heroism a bit too much. He also overdid the action sequences. Well, it’s just better to stick with the original.
9. Vivegam (2017)
Director Siva aimed for an international spy thriller with ‘Vivegam’. Probably, ‘Vivegam’ works for Ajith fans, but for everyone else it is not even a good watch. The movie disappointed me at so many levels and the only appealing factor was Thala Ajith’s sincere efforts to save the movie. The movie surely earned a lot of money (like any other movie on this list), but we expect so much more from Ajith.
08. Mr. and Mrs Ramachari (2014)
‘Mr and Mrs Ramachari’ works fine just because of the reel and real-life chemistry between Yash and Radhika Pandit. It is yet another overrated romantic drama that doesn’t rely on a strong story. All that it cares is about worshiping the hero all along while he is on a quest of his love, and in the end (of course), he wins the girl (Wait, how many times have we heard the same story!). Yash is terrific playing the troubled youth, but in the end, it’s just another forgettable romantic drama.
07. Sarrainodu (2016)
Well, I don’t even know where to begin with this. Allu Arjun starer ‘Sarrainodu’ was just like any of his other films. There’s a mess to be cleaned, there’s a girl to saved (or maybe two… err) and in the end, hero saves the day. Duh.. the result was the biggest grosser of the year. It somehow did capture audiences attention with eccentric action sequences, colorful frames and good music. But does that mean we also get a great movie? No, of course not!
6. Raajakumara (2017)
The highest grosser of the industry is, in fact, one of the most overrated. It did bag a whooping 75 cr from the domestic market itself. Puneeth Rajkumar’s ‘Raajakumara’ is just a cliched commercial masala. The formula has been place since time immemorial. Bundle up unwanted scenes to make audiences laugh, shove in emotions to make the audience cry and finally sprinkle a layer of typical “good message”. Sychophants will take care of the rest.
