‘Plunderer’ starts off as any typical adventure anime but slowly starts shifting its gears after a while. And when it does that, it gets really interesting. The much-awaited anime adaptation of the renowned manga series written by Suu Minazuki is finally here. The first two episodes of the series premiered on Funimation’s official Youtube channel in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand on December 8, 2019. However, the regular broadcast of ‘Plunderer’ Season 1 began on January 9, 2020 and Plunderer episode 2, titled “I Hate You!”, is now scheduled to release on January 16, 2020. ‘Plunderer’ is set in a world where every single human has a numerical identity. This identity, known as the “count”, is engraved on one’s body and represents a very significant aspect of one’s life. It could either be the number of miles that person will walk in a lifetime or it could be something much simpler than that. No matter what, this number should never reach zero because when it does, the respective person is dragged down to the darkness of the abyss and is forced to face a very painful death.
Hina is a young who, like everyone else, has a number identity of her own. Her number identity represents the number of kilometers she has walked. Throughout her life, she lives a comfortable life in the confinements of her well-protected home, under the shadow of her warm and loving mother. But when one day, her mother’s count falls to zero, she is dragged down to the Abyss and Hina is forced to leave the comfort of her home to fulfill her goal of finding the Legendary Ace. For her mother, Hina takes a leap into the dangerous world outside and embarks on a dangerous journey. Somewhere along the way, she crosses path with Licht Bach, who is a mysterious Knight with an unbelievably low count. Soon, Licht Bach joins her and the two of them set out to fulfill the purpose of their lives. And while they’re at it, they face new enemies and learn a lesson or two about life.
