23. Shrek (2001)
‘Shrek’ is a goldmine for anyone searching for adult humour in children’s films. Shrek should not be considered a children’s movie, to be honest. (I mean, Lord Farquaad? Obviously similar to “f*ckwad.”) But the exchange Shrek and Donkey have as they roll up to the Lord’s castle about how he might be trying to “compensate for something” really takes the inappropriate cake.
24. Monsters Inc.
Look at the poster on the left of Sulley the monster! I think Daddy needs to have a word with Mommy about this!
25. The Incredibles (2004)
In the beginning of the film, when lawsuits are springing against superheroes to stop them from using their powers, one of the newspaper headlines reads “X-RAY VISION PEEPING TOM?”. Yeah, one guy ruins it for everyone doesn’t he?
26. Madagascar (2005)
Nothing is quite as fitting as a good swear word to express the extremity of a situation, but when you do it in a kids’ movie, you need to get creative. Hence, in the 2005 safari comedy ‘Madagascar’, Marty the zebra shouts, “Sugar honey iced tea!” when he realizes he’s about to become lion food. Didn’t get it? Look at the first letters of each word. PG-13 swearing is a work of art!
27. Cars (2006)
If something can compete with ‘Shrek’ in the use of blatant adult humour, it is ‘Cars’. A scene from the film features a road sign saying “Top Down Truckstop”. And below it, only for us adults to comprehend, there’s written “Convertible Waitresses”! Think for a moment.
28 & 29. Ratatoulllie (2007)
Once you get over how gross it would actually be if a rat was part of the creation of your food, ‘Ratatoullie’ is another classic from Pixar. Near the end of this film about a masterchef rat, the infamous restaurant critic, Anton Ego, visits gives a lesson to the about food before tasting it, stating, “If I don’t love it, I don’t swallow it.” Well, that line doesn’t apply to just food, does it?
Also, when Linguini begins to explain his rat friend to his love interest as, “I have this tiny…” she briefly looks down to his pants with worry before he completes saying “friend”. Bravo for sneaking an oral sex joke AND a tiny penis joke in such an innocent tale Pixar!
30. Tangled (2010)
Unlike our other entries, this modern take on the story of Rapunzel doesn’t feature any innuendo. The sly joke surfaces instead, in promotional posters for the movie. It’s been suggested that one of the film’s movie posters included the word “SEX” which is cleverly hidden within Rapunzel’s hair. Perhaps, this was also supposed to say “SFX” like ‘Lion King’ or maybe, Disney just really enjoys hiding the word ‘sex’ in their children’s films.
31. Toy Story 3 (2010)

Pixar’s ability to sneak stuff under the radar is what makes its movies so enjoyable, even when we’re way past its usual demographic. Case in point: When Lotso, the pink stuffed bear, takes Mrs. Potato Head’s lips off of her body when she’s talking too much, Mr. Potato Head says, “Hey, nobody takes my wife’s mouth except me!” You thought he was just being a protective husband didn’t you? All you’ll hear now is an oral sex joke. Then there’s also Barbie praising Ken’s nice “ascot”.
32. Cars 2 (2011)
The Cars series is particularly prolific for its X-rated jokes, but this one is easily the most extreme. It all looks perfectly innocent as the villainous Lemons have themselves a Lemon Party. But if you’ve trawled the darker corners of the internet, you’ll know what “Lemon Party” stands for. If not, then best keep things that way. And don’t go googling; it’s for your own good.
33. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)

We know better than to expect subtlety from a Michael Bay movie. But when meeting journalist April (Megan Fox) in ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’, Michaelangelo says, “She’s so hot I can feel my shell tightening.” Yes, and the way he delivers it makes our skin crawl. It’s one thing to make a nudge-nudge-wink-wink innuendo, but don’t make it sound like you’re actually doing stuff! Ugh! (Watch at 0:45)
