The Seven Deadly Sins Season 6: Everything We Know

Based on an original Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki, ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ or ‘Nanatsu no Taizai’ is a high-fantasy action TV anime. The story revolves around the eponymous group of ill-reputed warriors who inhabit the land of Britannia. At the beginning of the series, Princess Elizabeth Liones finds the Sins one by one and, with their help, frees her kingdom from the control of the Holy Knights. It is later revealed that her fate and that of Meliodas, the leader of the Sins, are connected by 3000-year-old curses.

In the recently-concluded season 5 (season 4, according to non-Netflix counts, as season 2 or ‘Signs of Holy War’ is considered a 4-episode-long special), the Sins and their allies take on Meliodas’ father, the Demon King himself. If you are wondering whether there will be a season 6 of ‘The Seven Deadly Sins,’ we got you covered.

The Seven Deadly Sins Season 6 Release Date

‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ season 5 or ‘The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgement’ or ‘Nanatsu no Taizai: Fundo no Shinpan’ premiered on January 13, 2021, and aired 24 episodes before concluding on June 23, 2021. The latest season was developed by Studio Deen in collaboration with Korean animation studio Marvy Jack and TV Tokyo and licensed by Netflix. Susumu Nishizawa helmed the directorial team, and Rintarou Ikeda led the writing staff. As for the sixth season of the show, this is what we know.

In early March 2021, it was announced that the next entry in ‘The Seven Deadly sins’ franchise would be an anime film that would continue the story from season 5, which concluded by depicting the final chapters of the original manga series. This means the film will have an original story, which is written by Suzuki himself. The project’s name is ‘The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light’ or ‘Nanatsu no Taizai Movie 2: Hikari ni Norowareshi Mono-tachi.’ This is the second anime film in ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ franchise after the 2018 release ‘The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky’ or ‘Nanatsu no Taizai Movie 1: Tenkuu no Torawarebito.’

Studio Deen has developed ‘Cursed by Light,’ with Takayuki Hamana serving as the director and Rintarou Ikeda adapting Suzuki’s story. Most members of the cast from the TV anime are set to reprise their roles in the film. As it is the sequel of ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ TV anime for all intent and purpose, we can consider it the show’s sixth season. So, ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ season 6 or ‘The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light’ or ‘Nanatsu no Taizai Movie 2: Hikari ni Norowareshi Mono-tachi’ is set to release on July 2, 2021, in Japan.

The Seven Deadly Sins Season 6 Plot: What Can It Be About?

In the season 5 finale, the Sins go their separate ways. Merlin goes to Camelot with Arthur. Diane and King leave together. Ban takes Elaine on a trip across Britannia to compare different types of ale. Gowther, too, sets out on a journey. As for Hawk, he travels to purgatory with Merlin’s help and reunites with his older brother. Meliodas and Elizabeth become the King and Queen of Liones. They name their son Tristan, while Ban and Elaine name theirs Lancelot. On Tristan’s 10th birthday, he learns the real story of the Seven Deadly Sins and resolves to become one someday.

In season 6 or ‘The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light,’ the Sins will likely reunite at the wedding of Diane and King. However, they will soon realize that nothing lasts forever, not even peace. The demon world might collapse, prompting Meliodas to join forces with Zeldris and deal with the issue. Dahila, the second king of the fairies, and Dabuzu, the master craftsman of the giants, might serve as the two major antagonists in the film. However, the primary antagonist will likely be the Supreme Goddess herself, who is probably still angry at the Sins for ending the Holy War.
