In case you are also interested in learning more about the show’s production, look no further. You have come to the right place; here’s everything you need to know.

Dr. Death Filming Locations

‘Dr. Death’ is filmed in New Mexico and New York State. Located in the southwestern region of the United States, the Land of Enchantment offers tax incentives for film and television projects, leading to significant growth of the state’s entertainment industry. It has also hosted the shooting of ‘Wild Hogs,’ ‘Sunshine Cleaning,’ and ‘Vampires.’

On the other hand, the state of New York has one of the openhanded tax rebate programs in the country. Filming for the Joshua Jackson-starrer is done in several places in these two states, so we decided to investigate further to learn more about the specific locations. Here’s everything we found out.

Albuquerque, New Mexico

The principal photography of the crime drama series is done in Albuquerque. The city is located in the north-central part of the state and is home to the Albuquerque Studios, which has hosted the production of movies like ‘The Avengers.’ The show is filmed in NBC Universal’s Albuquerque studio, which is located on Commercial Street between Interstate 40 and Lomas Boulevard in the suburban neighborhood of Martineztown.

In 2019, the media company announced the plan of investing about half a billion dollars in the region. The state-of-the-art studio reportedly opened in 2021 and is expected to garner an economic impact of $1.1 billion over ten years. ‘Dr. Death’ is the first project to use NBCU’s Albuquerque studio, but we can expect it to attract more film and television shows in the region.

Moriarty, New Mexico

Moriarty is one of many shooting locations for the crime-thriller show. Located in Torrance County, the city is hardly an hour’s drive away from Albuquerque, i.e., the primary filming location. Since the production for the inaugural season of the series was done during a global coronavirus pandemic, the cast and crew followed all COVID-19 norms and regulations, which included regular testing, masks, and social distancing.

According to the New Mexico Film Office, the series employed five supporting cast members from the state along with a hundred crew members and another hundred background and extras.

New York, New York State

The cast and crew shot numerous crucial scenes in New York as well. The production of the first season reportedly wrapped up around March 22, 2021. Home to iconic sites such as Central Park, Times Square, and the Empire State Building, the city is one of the major cultural and financial centers of the world. It is also a sought-after filming location that hosts the production of numerous television shows and movies.

New York alone produces over 200 feature films every year and contributes generously to the state’s overall economy. Luckily, with one of the most lucrative tax incentives, New York’s position as the focal point of North America’s entertainment industry is only going to get more solidified in the future.
