15 Worst Indian Movies With an IMDb Rating of 7.0 or More

10. Thoongavanam (2015)

IMDb Rating: 7.2

Just attempting something different is not enough to make a cult classic. Kamal is the king of 24 crafts. It’s evident that he tries to make a neo-noir crime thriller, however, thought it’s a neo-noir, it’s not thrilling. The movie has no plot, it’s about drugs, evil cops, drug dealers and so forth. In any case, none of this is conveyed with clarity and convention here. ‘Thoongavanam’ resembles kids playing ‘cops and bandits’. Notwithstanding Kamal and Trisha the audience of the movie would have been exhausted as the film fails miserably to keep us on the edge of the seat.

9. Tamasha (2015)

IMDb Rating: 7.2

To be honest, ‘Tamasha’ is my favorite movie of this list. But the film is not for everyone, and isn’t a movie supposed to be for everyone? The relationship between characters is not completely established. I am surprised at the director’s choice to demonstrate a modern, sensible lady ending up with a flimsy individual. She ought to have moved on. Yet both the actors hang onto a very thin threaded story and at times go way over the top to legitimize their roles. With umpteen disruptions by songs at the drop of the hat, the narrative becomes even more convoluted. If you can relate to the character of Ranbir Kapoor, the content might please you. In terms of film-making, ‘Tamasha’ is not up to the mark.

8. Sultan (2016)

IMDb: 7.1

For a movie that is hyped so much, Sultan is a terrible let down. From the beginning, the movie’s plot line is shaky and not convincing. The movie involves too much fantasy and isn’t real enough for a grown adult to relate to it. It would be entertaining to 10 year old kids maybe. Anushka Sharma’s character is supposed to be a fighter, and eventually she turns out to forget all her ambitions and become a child-bearing agency and marriage-goat for Sultan. Why? She’s probably a better wrestler than Sultan, and her career wouldn’t fall apart like Sultan’s did.

7. Agneepath (2012)

IMDb Rating: 7.0

Remaking a classic is not a good idea. Remaking a cult is the worst idea. Original ‘Agneepath’ is the movie is a pinnacle of Amitabh’s angry young man act. Hrithik Roshan is a boy-next-door sort of an actor, who came up with the idea of casting him? And if you are trying to twitch the lead character, why are you remaking the movie? All being said, you got to appreciate Sanjay Dutt’s breath-taking performance. I wonder if someone would’ve come up with an original script with a similar antagonist and casting him for the role. What a waste!

6. Mardaani (2014)

IMDb Rating: 7.3

Nope! You cannot abuse feminism like that. So what if male protagonists are always throwing punches and punch lines? We’re already sick of it. The last thing we want is to see women protagonists do the same in the name of equality. I’m one of those people who want to see more female oriented movies, but not like this. We have a female protagonist, who battles with men twice her size, bashes them and even figures out how to track down the gang to their foundations, without a scratch on her body. I expect more from women empowering movies, I really do.
