15 Worst Indian Movies With an IMDb Rating of 7.0 or More

5. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)

IMDb Rating: 7.0

Trust me, I have nothing against Ranbir or Deepika. I love their work, but not this one. You’ll like ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ if you’re going through a midlife crisis, or have been. The movie is deceptive, it’ll make you to like it with it’s pseudo intellect. You are forced to empathize with Kabir, the protagonist, even though he’s nowhere similar to you. The songs will influence you to appreciate the poetic nature of the film, but the poetry makes no sense. I wonder how a movie can be made that’s almost three hours long but still gives you the feeling at the end of the day that the allegedly sumptuous meal you’ve had hasn’t filled half your belly.

4. Nanban (2012)

IMDb Rating: 7.6

Shankar remaking ‘3 Idiots’ with Vijay, sounds good, doesn’t work. The films borrows every page and every line of the original screenplay and translates it, fair enough. It has everything ‘3 Idiots’ has, but falls short in 3 things. One, Vijay, despite being a huge star, can’t pull off an Aamir Khan. Two, even Shankar can’t recreate the magic Hirani manged to do. Three, Boman Irani is irreplaceable, even by the legendary “Katappa”. Remakes are not worth it, and I say this for the last time in this article. To put it in a nutshell, “All is not well” with ‘Nanban.

3. Sanam Teri Kasam (2016)

IMDb Rating: 7.3

The Writers of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’. hand the lead on-screen female character with reasonable issues, however catastrophe thumps her down scene after scene. At first you feel for her and even root for the male protagonist, however after a point, you’re quite worn out. She’s abandoned by parents who are from the stone age, harassed by her co-workers and likewise draws near to no consideration from her boss. In any case, that is not all. The young lady keeps on engaging life all through, until she even loses it. The movie is melodrama overdosed. I get exhausted by merely writing a paragraph about it.

2. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008)

IMDb Rating: 7.2

‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ falls flat as soon as the protagonist’s alter ego Raj enters as it starts making no sense. Do you know mention that you’ll become 20 years younger if you remove your mustache and change to flamboyant & tight clothing. The film falls flat as it’s obvious to the viewer that both characters are the same. But Louis Lane fails to identify Clark Kent. They are some emotional and romantic scenes but the film fails to reach out due to it’s far fetched aspect.  Yes, writer-director’s exalted faith in pure love that runs through his previous works is still here but his protagonist is lost amid filmy treatment and director’s ambiguous approach.

1. Aashiqui 2 (2013)

IMDB Rating: 7.0

I don’t hate dramatic love stories, but my last three choices may say otherwise, trust me, I don’t. The reason why I can’t relate to this movie is this simple question; why should a celebrity singer be bothered about what public perception of his personal life? Isn’t it sumptuous that he remains true to his conscience? That is where the movie goes unimpressive for me. All other aspects are too cinematic and after a while you predict what will happen and it just happens at the climax. I understand a happy ending too would have looked lame after a while.

But if the director had the heart to unite the lovers, it would be possible with some changes in screenplay. That could be a better story than the one we are told. I simply can’t understand hero’s suicide decision, maybe I’m a heartless person. The movie had all the scope that the lead pair could’ve lead happier and successful life individually and together too. But director liked that sad way, for melodramatic purposes. Making melodramatic movies is a subtle art, but ‘Aashiqui 2’ wanders away from the line.
