Annemarie Wiley is a Mix of Dutch and Nigerian Ethnicity
Born on October 10, 1983, Annemarie grew up in Abbotsford, British Columbia, surrounded by love and opportunities. The television personality is of Dutch and Nigerian descent and was adopted early in life. Growing up, Annemarie attended the Abbotsford Senior Secondary School with her sisters. Given the countless prospects that lay ahead, she decided to widen her skill set and lay the groundwork for her future aspirations.
Despite sharing deep love and affection as a family, Annemarie isn’t foreign to grief and sadness. Tragedy knocked on her door earlier this year when her mother passed away. Having lost the light of her life, the television personality penned a heartfelt goodbye to her late parent. She wrote, “Thank you for “choosing” me to be your middle daughter…Your kindness and warmth were felt by all who met you. You were the light in every room you entered…” While the void of their mother’s loss may never be filled, Annemarie and her sisters have continued to pay homage to the magnetic life force that their mother exhibited.
After completing her high school education, Annemarie moved to the States. Here, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern California. Later, she also obtained a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. While a career in the medical industry was always a top priority for her, the television personality was also involved in extracurriculars and sports just as much. During her time in college, Annemarie was a prolific basketball player and even ran track.
Annemarie Wiley is Certified Nurse Anaesthetist
Given her years of knowledge on the subject matter, Annemarie quickly kickstarted her career in the healthcare industry. The television personality has been working as a Certified Nurse Anaesthetist (CRNA) at Keck Medicine of USC for quite some time. Her area of expertise isn’t just curtailed to administering anesthesia to patients. In addition to working on surgical procedures with medical professionals, she also lends her knowledge to expand the area of research in anesthesia.
Using years of accumulated experience, Annemarie has continued to lend her ken when it comes to exponentiating the understanding of pain management for patients. Given the nature of her job, it isn’t uncommon for people to wonder the extent of her work and duties. In a post on Instagram, Annemarie clarified what her job entails. She captioned a montage of her workplace duties and stated, “CRNA’s work as independent practitioners and our Scope of Practice includes: Pre-operative evaluation and physical assessment of the patient prior to the anesthetic; Development of the anesthetic plan; Administering general anesthesia and sedation; Administering regional anesthesia/analgesia such as spinal and epidurals…”
Annemarie Wiley’s Husband is Marcellus Wiley
Annemarie has been embarking on countless adventures with her husband, Marcellus Wiley, for almost a decade. The duo tied the knot in a Mexican coastal resort town, Playa del Carmen in 2014. Annemarie’s husband, Marcellus, was a former NFL player who has played as a defensive end for teams like the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, and even Dallas Cowboys. Marcellus retired from his NFL career in 2006 and has since been working as a sports analyst and host.
Despite the career changes along the way, the couple has displayed their growing adoration and admiration for each other repeatedly. Exhibiting her affection for her husband in an Instagram post, Annemarie described Marcellus as “selfless, devoted, and ever-present. Role model, mentor, chauffeur (!!!), coach (literally), substitute nurse, dance party partner, grill master, pool cannonball pro… Your roles are endless!”
In addition to sharing unwavering devotion for one another, they also share the endless duties of parenthood. The duo are parents to four children: Marcellus Jr, 7; Ariya Jane, 4; Alivia Marie, 3; and finally, Morocco Alise, 24. Marcellus’ eldest daughter, Morocco, was born from a previous relationship. In addition to sharing a booming family life, the couple has also co-founded Project Transition. This organization caters to individuals and families who seek to enact personal and community change.
The non-profit is primarily involved in helping at-risk youth by teaching them tangible skills and instilling a sense of leadership. Together, Annemarie and Marcellus hope to become role models for their children. In addition to focusing on their upbringing, Annemarie is also particular about the qualities she parades in front of her impressionable young kin. The reality star believes in encouraging a healthy lifestyle in her house, which would further allow her children to embody the same.
